objective:

Rebel victory: retrieve the data core and take it to the entrance.

Imperial victory: retrieve the data core and take it to the entrance, or wound all heroes.

I had 2 threat increase per round

3 open groups

*double the threat when you begin and resolve optional deployment

initial forces: E-web, stormtroopers, Trandoshans

Reserve: elite Officer, and storm troopers

Imperial player lost, very close, each hero near the end was down to 4 health left. Reflecting back on the match I found so many different possibilities. do you rush the heroes and waste them, or take the data core and hold it from the heroes. I was somewhere inbetween. I used my reserve elite officer to pick up the token and ran around for a bit, while i saved up for royal guards, those guys beat the snot out of most of the heroes. I feel i should have left the doors closed and fought the heroes.

If anyone has played the mission i would love to hear what they did.

Only played this one as rebels, I held Jan back to cover one door ( after she dealt with the bunty hunters and one deployment point when I knew where it was because I didn't want him slipping past, the rest of my heroes went for the other troops. I finished off one door after the bounty hunters had done most of the work resulting in imperial reinforcements and an officer grabing the objective. But he didn't stand a chance as the few troops were wiped out and the other door taken down, then it was a case of trying to slow down the hero with the core. I think I only had one hero close to wounded. Its a tricky misson for the imperials they can't play it like others as they really want to grab the objective first, if a hero gets it with stain for moves orders etc they can get it out very quickly, on the other hand its better to build up threat so when a door comes you stand a chance of get the objective off yourself.

We played this mission yesterday and I think I may have broke the game. Regarding that mission only, of course. I re-read the mission a few times and I don't think I've missed something or did an illegal action.

So here it goes :

I'm playing technological superiority class. Because I love probe droids, I chose Technical support as my first upgrade, which give +1 speed to all my droids and allow them to remove conditions, heal or give focus to an adjacent target (at the cost of an action).

The rebels are playing with 3 heroes : Fen, Diala and Gaarkhan, who start with the second activation token.

At the time we played the mission, threat level was 3. So right at the start, I deploy an elite probe droid at the top of the map (near the e-web).

The rebels start by attacking the Trandoshans with Fen, finishes them with Gaarkhan. Then they move Diala near the stormtrooper and the e-web, positioning her behind the impassible terrain so the e-web can't shoot her.

But the e-web had other plans. Shooting at the upper door, destroys it. (Deployment of other troops, yada-yada.) Gaarkhan then destroys the e-web.

When the rebels are done with their action, I am left with a squad of stormtroopers, an elite officer and the elite probe droid to play.

The droid makes four move, take the data token, then make one move back on his tracks. The rest of the troops take position in front of the rebels to block the path between the probe droid and the rebels.

Now, the droid is 9 spaces from the entrance, with a speed of 5, this means 10 movement points on his next action. So voilĂ  ! Mission won on the first imperial action in the second round ! Fastest game ever played.

With a health of 7, the droid could not be one shoot, and with mobile, his path could not be altered. We turned it around and around and couldn't find a way for the rebels to stop the droid. Actually, the rebels opted to take the crate, ended-up with the grenade that stuns, so managed to stun the droid with it. But I already had deployed another probe droid (regular), who could go next to the elite one and remove his stun...

I think I was lucky to have the right combination but I am a bit dazzled by this victory. Did I say I love probe droids ?

nice work, good job with the quick mission end. i want to try tech superiority. I wonder if one less hero helped the cause.

Thanks. Actually I think that one more hero would not change a lot. On the other hand, with 2 heroes, the two activation tokens could allow for a run to the data core.
