S,M,L, Ship Sizes

By madtulip, in Star Wars: Armada

i was wondering about the size classes mentioned here.:

Is it clear which size a VSD and CR90 is currently? As the card says "ship" and not squadron i suppose "small" doesnt apply for squadrons but there will be 3 different sizes of capital ship. So is the CR90 already small? Or is the VSD already small or allready Large? If the VSD is considered small i.e. we know what to exspect in future waves.

I think that information would also be on the shipcard already unless its directly related to the base size or something which is fixed and known or obvious. Or maybe there is a rule about it forensicus?

If it's not on base size (My theory) it will probably be based on Hull Strength.

I think we generally agreed that it was likely based on base size. That would give us small for CR90, Neb and GSD, and medium for VSD and AF. That leaves large the natural sizing for stuff like the inevitable ISD/MC90.

I suspect it's base on the command number.

1 => small

2 => medium

3 => large

I agree. But I want MC80 befor MC90 ;-)

Oops, i actually meant MC80! Should absolutely 100% come out before an MC90 (if that comes out at all...it's not Civil-war era really).

Just may be right about the command points reflecting hull size... I hadn't thought of that.

I suspect it's base on the command number.

Awesome! Way to join the forums wih a bang! This makes the most sense out of any of our speculation.

I'm not sure on the command = size, simply because one of the early videos confirmed command will go up to 4. I think the gencon demo one....dont have time to check which it was right now.

I guess 4 = huge? But that means Motti would have no effect on them, which seems unlikely.

Personally, my gut feel is still base size, same as it works in X-Wing.

I suspect it's base on the command number.

:D

4 and more would be epic then

I don't think they will link ship size to command as that makes what they can do with command values more limited.

This man is correct. ISDs will be command 4, SSDs command 6. :D

I guess you mean you "think" he's correct, unless you have info we don't? ;)

Still seems more likely to be base size due to command going above 3 etc, but as with a few remaining things...we'll have to see.

I think VSD and GSD have the same plastic bases, but different command and hull point values. Aren't they both considered medium ships?

On some picture, you can see there are not the same armada-wave1-title-image.jpg

Freg MkII and VSD have the same base size, and Corv, Nebulon-B and Gladiator have one smaller

I like this one better :D

I'm sorry but is Jeffrey Wright Admiral Motti??

Not the best picture for comparison, but I can't shake it now.

Haha, you win all the internets for today, sir.

Although Motti has always been a very fluctuating character. In the movie, he is a snooty young British officer type. In the comicbook adaptations, he was a balding old man. Now he's a black guy.

no.

i dont know where i read it, but it made sense that the 1st wave is only small and medium bases, mon cals and VSD that will come later will be large

Oh, yeah. Let's pick on the young British guy who became an older black man.

Nevermind the Forceless Vong, the Emperor's clone, the blue Thrawn guy in the xenophobic Empire, the lizard monkeys that repelled the Force, Luke kissing his sister, parsecs being used as a measure of time, Calamari living out of the sea, Mace Windu dying like a wimp, the designer of the first Death Star who thought an exhaust port was safe, and a million other things.

Honestly. This is a gaming forum. Be serious or get out.

=P

The new Hyperspace Assault objective pretty much settled this btw.

VSDs are confirmed to be Medium (since you can Hyperspace them), so it is definitely not based on command rating. Seems pretty obvious that it is definitely base size, and that Large ships will be ISD/Mon Cals etc in the future.
