Aggressor

By Trumpet, in X-Wing

Is it worth just getting one aggressor?

I have got The Most Wanted,Star Viper and Interceptor but didn't pick up the aggressor because of the cost and potential I may need more than just one to get the most out of it,am I missing out not having one aggressor or will my scum lists be just fine or should I look at getting another interceptor?

I haven't seen any lists that run just one, but it comes with neat illicit upgrades that your Z-95s and StarViper may like to use.

Definitely. It still works fine on its own.

A/C and 2 Scyks is the way to go!

To get the true flavour you need two.

I'm not sure of points exactly, but if you fly just one you could probably just fly a firespray (which you might already own).

The IG's are almost a mini-faction within scum.

Hey, if you need help justifying the cost just compare it to this weekends GW release. Their new Bloodthirster is out, and it is stunning. But it's also £70. And still doesnt come close to even half of what you would for even a small army.

Two (or even 4 for total shuts and goggles ) are a bargain.:)

I flew one with a y-wing and a HLC equipped scyk and it did really well, advance sensors let me use the s loop effectively to dodge arcs and still get a shot, plenty of green moves to shed it the following turn.

Because of how the card bases are you can have A and B together without buying a second expansion you just have to proxy the model.

Definitely get one at least.

Why would you need 2? At 100 points that's your list entirely.

Why would anyone think he's weaker on his own in a list. That makes no sense.

A 2 big ship list with only forward fire arcs I don't think is compensated by having 4 pilot abilities. He's still PS 6.

The s loop lets you get around just having the forward arc and AS let's you still take an action, if you go AB you regenerate shields when you kill and have an in built gunner for those HLC you mounted.

Hot shot blaster can cover a turn if somethings out of your arc and be a nasty surprise for a flanker.

I think about IG, Scarlet and Suhlak or maybe even Kavil list :) Today i'll try it :)

Well it's looking like I maybe be getting the aggressor then!

If I can run just one then all is good,I must admit I have at least one of everything so far and it did feel weird not purchasing this straight off.

If anyone else has any hands on experience with just one aggressor I would like to hear your thoughts.

Oooo and i played:

IG88C

-PTL

-Advance Sensors

-Autothrusters

-Feedback array

Kavil

-VI

-Blaster turret

-R4

Suhlak

-Lone wolf

-Cluster Missiles

100pts

It is a good list for my play style ;) Additional you can change Suhlak to Mux for more control, or if you want IG for Firespray ;]

Hot shot is great - unless you flub your roll :D

The loop is great but it's not always going to giveyou position. It doesn't take away his blind side which, being a big ship, is bigger.

I like IG88 very much, but i don't think 2 IG's is essential. I woudl like a second, but only for the indulgence.

The Aggressor is a great singleton large-ship. However, it's truly designed to be run in pairs.

The problem is that it's running into the Firespray-31, which is arguably a better singleton large-ship.

When I get back from my shift, I'll do the break-down between 'em :)

If you want to run only one IG-88, the list below has prospects. I am going to try it out.

I finished 3 out of 16 in a store championship yesterday flying 1 Aggressor. But I only had 1.

IG-88

HLC, autothrusters, advanced sensors, predator

N'Dru Suhlak

PTL clusters missiles

Generic y-wing

Btl-a4 title, proximity mine, blaster turret, bomb load out, genius.

Finished 2nd place out of 7 in a tournament with this.

Yeah it may fail but it can save you let me set the scene, my aggressor has killed Alexander and another generic x-wing but it's beaten up on two hull, on my left is one generic and dead ahead is the other, my planned move is to go one straight and hit the rookie on the left then safe from him I gun down the other guy but...

Instead of hitting I slide in with millimetres to spare and he's out of arc at range one of me which is pretty disastrous, but I have my blaster and the rookies on two hit points so I use it in an all or nothing attack, all three come up good two hits and a crit, he fluffs his green dice and I'm safe for the moment.

The other guy had k turned so had no action he got one hit and I evaded easily, y-wing escort then diminished him off.

So yeah you may fluff the hot shot blaster or it may save your life.

In yesterdays store championship I ran IG-88A w/Draw Their Fire and Adv Sensors with 3 Cartel Spacers w/Heavy SCK and Manglers. In match one against Soontir/Turr/Sigma I was able to catch Turr and kill him in one turn. The other two evaded me for a while as he slowly picked me apart. I eventually caught the phantom and regained a health, but after time was called in the final round Soontir was able to deal the killing blow to IG-88A, losing me the match 100-66. I then went against Commander Kenkirk and Rexler and easily melted the Decimator with the mangler cannons. After that was a 7 TIE swarm with Howlrunner, Night Beast, Back Stabber, 2 Obsidians and 2 Academy Pilots. Again the Mangler Cannons wrecked the ships without shields, including a lucky Injured Pilot on Howlrunner. Next up was 2 Hired Guns with Blaster Turrets and R4 Agros and 2 Syndicate Thugs with Unhinged Agromechs and Ion Cannon Turrets. I piloted right into the trap and was easily defeated 100-0.

In the end I found myself scattering the SCYKs so Draw Their Fire was only used once in 4 matches. I think if I swapped it for Inertial Dampeners I may have been able to have a single shot each game hitting the brakes and trying to keep a highly maneuverable ship in front of IG-88A for the kill.

One combo I saw yesterday that worked extremely well was IG-88C with PTL and Advanced Sensors. Use Advanced Sensors to Boost, then evade, then PTL for focus and then reveal a green maneuver to immediately shed the stress.

I could see IG 88 B (PTL, Sensors, Mangler) being very effective as the head of some form of mini-swarm. Not sure if it'd be more effective than a viper, but the blocking shenanigans you could pull are quite exceptional and its dial has far more green for PTL abuse relative to the Viper.

If you're running Xizor, the Iggy you want is IG-88A.

Toss the damage onto a ship that can regenerate, and your opposing fleet loses a LOT of damage over the course of the game.

I would not be running it with Xizor. They're two maneuverable ships but one of them wants to tie the other one down in order to use his ability.

Imo, Guri should replace him in a heartbeat

if you're looking just to outbid phantoms, imo the Viper is not the ship to do it with.

I've been running Aggressor lists all weekend. Having loads of fun with my "B&D" list at 100 points using two Aggressors. And have played two 200 point games where I ran all 4 (yes, I bought 4).Tons of fun!

Jim

I had a chance to run a B & D this weekend against a dual Firespray (Boba and Kat) + a Z95.

I must be doing something wrong, cause I had my droid handed to me twice. 8 hp on a big ship without a turret does not so well. Yeah, I had a ton of fun with the S loop, but it wasn't enough.

Eight hull behind three agility isn't that easy to knock out.

Me I think the must have is advanced sensors it opens up alot of movement options, just like with a double defender list you must hit hard early so I reckon it's worth using HLC on both.
