This maybe a completely ridiculous question, but I'm gonna ask anyway. Is the Ion turret on the hwk etc... fire in a 360° arc? Not all turrets can make a full 360° traverse but we have been using as it can. Is this correct?

Yes. All turret secondary weapons can fire outside of the printed firing arc (ie: in the whole 360 degrees around the ship).

To emphasize what klutz said - turrets do not have a 360 arc. They can fire outside of the printed arc on the ship (all the way around). So if an ability refers to being inside or outside of an arc, it is still referring to the printed arc on the ship tile.

There is nothing in the rules that allow a turret to fire all the way around a ship. You'll notice all the turrets currently available each specify that directly on the card.

There is occasionally some confusion with the use of the word "turret". Some people, like you just did, say turret and mean the game specific card type "Turret Upgrade", other people, like Klutz above, sometimes say turret and mean it in a more dictionary sense "a weapon that can fire outside of its firing arc".

A turret weapon that can only fire inside its arc is generally called a cannon but the point it 100% valid.

I think it would be more likely to get a turret that can target outside of the ship's firing arc but can NOT target inside the firing arc. Essentially the turret would cover everything the primary doesn't.

There's also something to be said for keeping an answer simple, concise and to the point.

Turret is generally used to refer to Turret Prinary Weapons and Turret Upgrade secondary weapons.

And the CR-90 Turret primary weapon can not shoot 360 degerees, but can shoot outsider it's firing arc which is actually 2 firing arcs on the sides
