I just received an E Wing. (Im very new to the game)

Help me tweak this before I fly it.

Honestly its not bad. The generic Blue cannot take Adrenaline rush as that require elite pilot talent. EPT.

That leaves you two points to go up to Blackmoon squad E or add Fire Control System to the E.

Another option you can consider is playing Corran Horn. Though, you probably will lose a ship. 4 ships is a very nice number to have, and your list honestly looks fun and fine.

What is the purpose/usefulness of the A wing?

An A-Wing in such a list is best used as a flanker\blocker\distractor as it lacks the firepower and durability of the other fighters.

Accept the fact that it will eventually die and that its purpose is to disrupt the enemy as long as possible and you will get some mileage out of it...

Thanks. I'm a newbie and just wondered about it, I don't have any A Wings - yet.

The proto-type is a real baller. It's purpose on the battle-field is to be as much of a pain in the ass as possible.

Usually, this means setting up blocks and range 1 shots while not giving the slightest ****. It is the cheapest and most expendable ship in your squad, so you can afford to put into dangerous but very rewarding positions either for its own sake or to set up shots for your other pilots.

For what it's worth, though, imo Auto-thrusters are completely superfluous considering its cheapness is one of its strengths (and the fact that you probably want it to get shot before your 3 dice ships). Even slapping V.I on Corran would be a far more effective use of points.

I was going over the stats/pilots of the A wing, TC isn't a bad pilot for what you wanting to do. I mean he can perform actions even w/a stress token. Im sure if you add r5-d8 to him, he could last a little longer and probably b a serious pain to your opponent.

ships can only equip certain upgrades (check the icon on the upgrade card to see if it matches the icons below the action bar)

Tycho only has the elite pilot talent (medal) and missile (missile?) slot, plus the implicit modification slot, so he cannot equip R5-d8 (astromech).

Tycho's of course hilarious, but he's really expensive for what those 2 offense dice do.

okay, so the A is meant to be distracting, and give you a little more firepower. Its very maneuverable and can be an excellent blocker with the boost.

Now, I tried the Proto with Auto: What I found is that its very very very easy to have the first shot be either R4 (not at all) or R3 -> then your second shot at R1, usually passing past the focus fire of many ships. Auto thus makes it easier to enter combat and survive. For that, its 2 points is considerable weight. The A wing can go very long fast, this makes it good at closing distance and also getting in the way.

When you get decently good at controlling range upon engagement I think you'll find Autothrusters nice. It doesnt matter anyway, you'll have to either proxy or buy a Starviper

4 ships is a great number in 100pts. A isn't bad. You'll get one in Rebel Aces, which you said you have on the way.

The rookie doesn't need upgrades, but you could try R3-A2 when you get it.

Auto blaster is the worst cannon, either take Ion or HLC or not at all. no cannon is very cost effective too.

With the extra points you can probably squeeze 3 or 4 points for a hull or shield upgrade on Corran Horn. Good players will focus him down in 1 or 2 turns and he won't get much use out of R2D2 cuz he will still die. Hull or Shield usually gives you a little insurance against bad luck.

This is a funny list because after they take down biggs, you've taken out 20 or 30 points of theirs too and your remaining ships are annoyingly hard to kill. Corran and Ibtisam do very nice damage.

I'd recommend getting Rebel Aces before the A-wing expansion

You get straight-up more cost-effective named pilots and some very important A-wing upgrades that cannot be found in the normal expansion.

The normal expansion does have Tycho and Push the Limit, though
