A devious thought occurs

By RebelDave, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I would post this in the GM forum, but I feel it would get more footfall here.

To my Player, who might see this, GO AWAY RIGHT THIS SECOND!

Right.... so... in a thread earlier about registering starships with BoSS. Someone mentioned that a quick an easy method might be to fake a sale of the ship to the current owners. Thus putting the ship in their name.

Now the ship my guys have was previously owned by Trex, who is now dead... but there i a Trandoshan in the group, so an impersonation might spring to mind for them if its kinda suggested sideways.

So, lets assume they DO go for this... and DO pay a guy to fake the sale to the players.

How would you work it if the ship was actually owned by Teemo? and Trex was simply using it long term?

Teemo is also dead... by the same party... who may have been seen fleeing, in a stolen ship, registered to Teemo... but of course, my players dont know this.

Suggestions for Deviousnessismiums-ishyness..... er.. please?

One thing that happened for us when we took out Teemo was that on his personal private computer systems he had the digital equivalent to a “pink slip” to a number of his properties, including his palace. We were able to hack into those computers and steal those digital documents, so that legally we actually were the owners of those properties.

Of course, if we had made any actual attempt to sell those properties, I imagine that there might be a lot of interference from Jabba or the other parts of that particular cartel.

So, if the players didn’t find a digital “pink slip” for their ship when they were rummaging around Teemo’s computers the last time, maybe they might try to hire a hacker to slice into those systems at some later time, to see if those hidden files are still there.

Or maybe they find the digital “pink slips”, but what they don’t know is that they are very high quality fakes, that are specifically designed to get them into extra deep dark trouble with BoSS if/when the players ever try to make things “legit”.

I mean, even the Empire is smart enough not to screw around with BoSS.

And maybe the hacker they hire to slice into Teemo’s computers and pull up the digital “pink slips” is actually already working for Jabba, and is part of the conspiracy to set them up?

Or, if they go the try to go the impersonation route, maybe that seems to work, but part of the process requires taking a genetic sample plus fingerprint, and comparing those to the ones on record for the owner of the ship. And maybe there’s a silent alarm there where the transaction is allowed to go through, but all kinds of tracers get put on them as a result, so that Jabba or someone else can more easily find them when the time comes?

That’s a couple of ideas that occur off the top of my head. I might come up with some more.

What you should NOT do under any circumstances after your players turn Teemo into Jabba is trick them into meeting their Jabba-connected contact right outside a 'hangar' in Mos Eisley, let them walk in and find themselves in a makeshift arena where Jabba intends to make an example of them for taking down a Hutt.

If they kill the enemy gladiators and survive, do NOT 'sell' them the piece-o-s**t ships they stole for loans of 100,000 credits a piece and a cut of their future Ryll smuggling profits.

That would just be mean :)
