.:Donovan:.

By Cain Valentine, in UFS Rules Q & A

I just have a quick question about the wording on Donovan:.

E: If your attack is not blocked, Draw X cards. X equals 6 minus your attacks speed. ( Minimum 0 ). You may not remove cards from your card pool for the rest of the combat phase.

Dose this mean this mean if your opponent blocks the attack that you are able to remove cards from your card pool? The reason why I ask is because of the ruling I got on god of metal due to the periods in the card, Or the effects of the card not resolving. But then if its resolving, you dont draw cards so the enhance would never resolve?

I guess im just confused.

The way this card works is as such

E: If your attack is not blocked, Draw X cards. X equals 6 minus your attacks speed. ( Minimum 0 ).

You may not remove cards from your card pool for the rest of the combat phase. <---- this part has nothing to do with the card drawing and you may not remove cards from the card pool whether your opponent blocked or not.

I'm pretty sure that if any ability starts with an IF qualifier that the entire ability is contingent on the IF statment happening. I do remember this being in the TR somewhere.

proto -- I actually looked, and it seems like they pulled that clause from the new TR (I may be mistaken). That said, that whole section of rules should still be valid (IMO) because of all the cans of worms opened up with the old (ancient) Hooligan Combo rulings that necessitated that clause in the first place.

It's a restriction. Once the enhance has been played, whether the attack is blocked or not, no more cards can be removed from the card pool for the rest of the Combat Phase.

It's been that way since the card was printed a year ago.

In short - one for Shajir.
