Another take on B and D

By RobotViking0066, in X-Wing Squad Lists

My view on IG-88 B and D is finding a balance of offense and defense with 2 ships slivering their abilities. This has not been flown yet, still in theory, and while the upgrades may need some shifting, here's my idea:

IG-88 (B): 36

PTL: 3

HLC: 7

FCS: 2

Auto thrusters: 2

Feedback array: 2

IG-2000: 0

IG-88 (D): 36

SOT: 2

IC: 3

Flechette C: 2

Adv S: 3

Feedback array: 2

IG-88 2000: 0

Total: 100

Thoughts?

I like your choice of Flechette and Ion cannons on D. I want to try out putting HLC and Flechette/Ion on a ship (with B's ability). Shoot with the Ion/Flechette first, and make the opponent decide between taking damage and a stress/ion token, or cancelling the dice, and then you can follow up with an TL (via FCS) HLC shot perferrably against a tokenless defender.

Muwhaahahaaaa! Given, this is 9/10 points of cannons for what I'm hoping is only 1 damage =/.

I'm so ready to fly this lol it looks great on screen

Up to this point I have been anti dub large builds, but this looks fun to fly

I don't think feedback array is worth it on 2 expensive ships. I realize you won't be ioned with just 1 token, but the aggressor doesn't have a ton of health (relatively speaking for large base ships), so I'm a bit iffy on that...

Heavy Laser Cannon on IG88B. This is a bad idea, unless you had points to give him a second cannon with range 1 capability. Not being able to 'gunner' at range 1 will definitely hurt you. My first test game it was a glaring 'hole' that caused me to quickly switch to mangler to patch it up. If you switch to mangler, that frees up 3 points which you can use to either upgrade feedback arrays to hotshot blasters, or downgrade to inertial dampeners so you can have autothrusters on both.
