so when playing with my new toys this situation came up:

I had Guri and he had Pablo. at the start of combat he was at range 1 so i get a focus. he stated that since he is Pablo he gets to strip said focus. I was thinking that the two abilities trigger simultaneously thus he couldnt get my focus because i needed to already have had it???

please clarify

Both abilities resolve simultaneously.

Rulebook page 16:

If multiple abilities resolve at the same time, the player with initiative resolves his abilities first.

In other words: If Guri has initiative, Pablo can strip that token. If Pablo has initiative, he cannot.

Edit:

Guri is not forced to use his ability. You are entitled to not assign that token. If Guri has initiative, that may be the better choice.
