Now we're going to see people complaining the low number of Z bases inside Most Wanted.
"FFG you money grabber only 3 bases in MW pack i can't use my 4th rebel Z95!!|1!"
PSA: FFG Listened, we can stop talking about scum dials now
Seriously though, they just did it to keep people happy and prevent a riot/boycott. FFG only knows how much angry hate mail they received in the ~60 minutes between posting version 222 and 223.
It strikes me as unlikely that they were coerced, Most Wanted has still sold excellently. X-wing boycott? Very unlikely. Riot? Going out into the streets and looting over miniatures game dial colours?
They may have taken note that people felt strongly about it on the forums and changing their minds, but don't think for a second they were forced. The vocal minority has practically no power over FFG.
This makes me want to buy an extra MW. Yes you can have all my money, asking so nicly like you are.
PSA - Don't get heavily involved in a Minatures game if you have NO MONEY. I mean seriously .... Good Lord!
This game is CHEAP compared to most minis...
Been getting into Dungeons and Dragons attack wing lately as well. I have ALL X wing in spades, 3-8 per ship and D&D attack wing will cost me more than x wing has.

Enjoy it while it lasts because we all know what wizkidz do to their games, mechwarrior dark ages, herocliz, attack wing all suffer because they put short term gain over long term health of the game.
I haven't bought Most Wanted yet, so can someone explain how you can get the ship cards but not the dials for the Z-95s? Why did this ruling need to be reversed?
I play D&D so can use the minis in games sometimes anyways. My klds like them will be a good into to D&D for them sometime.
Currently its very fun, like the air to ground interaction.
Units don't have to be as careful and running into each other has little consequence. But its fun.
I really wish the Trek game had models like X wing, I would be all over it even with annoying power creep and stupid OP prizes.

one would probably check Ebay for start
but i wouldn't count getting much out of it
but what's nice about it is most wanted comes with 3 chits for z95's, 2 with the named pilots and one with both generic pilots
this means it allows me to play with my one additional rebel z95 without having to buy a secondary most wanted pack unless i wanted to fly 3 generics of the same kind
but as long as i include at least one of the named pilots i can field 3 scum Z95s

You get more ship bases and pilots than you get ships. Each Most Wanted has enough cards to let you fly 3 Z-95s if you have a Rebel model and dial. You can do two Soldiers and a Pirate or two Pirates or Soldier. You can now fly 3 Y-Wings, 2 HWKs, or 2 Firesprays as well as long as the pilots you want aren't on the same card board.
I think it's as big a deal that it lets you use the Z-95s with a Rebel fleet. One copy of Most Wanted and 2 Rebel Z-95s let you run 2 Bandits and 2 Talas now.
In case anyone is interested this is the breakdown of the card board bases
Z-95s:
Black Sun Soldier / Binayre Pirate
Binayre Pirate / Kaa'to Leechos
N'Dru Suhlak / Black Sun Soldier
Y-Wing:
Syndicate Thug/ Drea Renthal
Kavil / Hired Gun
Syndicate Thug / Hired Gun
HWK:
Torkil Mux / Dace Bonearm
Palob Godalhi / Spice Runner
Firespray:
Emon Azzamen / Boba Fett
Kath Scarlett / Mandalorian Merc
Making it cheaper to get a Z swarm for both factions is an obvious benefit of the ruling change. What I think is a bigger deal that might affect more people is that the following lists options open up for people with a single copy of Most Wanted (assuming they have the appropriate models):
Kavil and 2 Warthog Thugs
Fett and Kath
Torkil Mux and Palob
And, as that works in reverse, FFG has proven to be the Rebel-loving, Rebel-lovers that us loyal Imperialists always knew them to be!
The Rebel players just got an extra Y-Wing and pair of Z-95s for their lists (presuming they have enough of the right Rebel tile facings to match up)!
And imperials get another Firespray. What's your point?
I'd take a FS over Z-95s and Y-wings any day.

Most Wanted doesn't come with a Firespray model.
I'm actually REALLY glad of this. I recently had to split my XWing collection into 2 bags, and somewhere in that process I misplaced my 2 Imperial Firespray dials.
I don't like it. Now I have to deal with cheapskates that have a mixed bag of dials and I have to spend unnecessary cycles keeping track of that as well.
This amounts to proxying, which isn't allowed in any other context.

It's not proxying any more than using the Scum paintjob in a Rebel list would be. FFG made the call that models and dials represent a ship and not a faction specific version of a ship.
If having to keep track of mixed dials is tough for you, color your pegs.

You're missing the point. The game has players track a ton of information already as it is. I don't want to spend a single brain cell on it when it's unnecessary.
I don't think FFG made this change because of the players who don't want to spend money (they clearly require you to buy a $90 Tantive for C3P0); I think they did it because they know there are stock issues and port issues which may limit availability. I hope they reverse that rule by Wave 7's release.
I am extremely happy to read this!

How is it any more mental effort than keeping track of dials is currently? When you are playing against the same faction you've got 4-16 identical dials on the table, how is this made more complicated if a couple of those dials don't match?

These "cheapskates" could also well be people on a tighter budget due to necessity; the ability not to have to buy another $40 box just to get an arguably superfluous component is a considerable boon. And if you're going to throw out the "if they can't afford whatever whatever they shouldn't play" nonsense, check your privilege.
They've got the cards, they've got the ships, and they've got the tiles; whining that the cardboard sandwich (that players with a distaste for clutter don't even put on the board) is a different color is foolish and unnecessary.

In every other circumstance, the tournament rules state you must possess the cards, dials, bases, pilots, tokens, miniatures, and everything necessary to play a tournament game. Now they're saying you need to own a version of it, even if it's not for your current faction.
If I'm whining about the color of the cardboard sandwich, then I'll just proxy the TIE/x1 title; it's just a piece of arbitrary cardboard. What difference does it make that I never bought it? What reason would it matter that FFG printed it or I printed it? Why would we draw a line in the sand like that?
i think this thread is ironically flying directly in the face of it's title...:-/

In this case the company that makes the game is saying that the model and the dial are tied to the type of the ship and not to the faction of the ship, so you are just bitching about the color of cardboard.
He is a flanker that doesn't dodge arcs, that alone makes him uniqe and thus very interesting.
Granted you could use other ships that cant arc-dodge to flank, but they don't necessarily excel in that role Ndru does!

With all the other things that they allow, this makes a lot of sense. This is no more proxying than it is with third party maneuver templates or tokens.
