New Tournament FAQ is Out!

By Deltmi, in X-Wing

With 3rd party dials a possibility the rule wouldn't be standing for long. The bases are still a problem.

Nice. That should please those cross-faction players.

Only to a point, you're still limited by how many base cards you have, in which case is 2 or 3. So with a single MW pack you can use at the most...

3 Z-95's

3 Y-Wings

2 HWK-290s

2 Firesprays

Who only buys one of things? Like... really.

I think either way its a win for FFG, if you need the pilot card and ship token for that faction....you'll probably have the dial too if you plan to do a swarm. This only benefits if you plan to run like 3 Z's with one being unique, depending on whats on the two sides of the ship token. Yes I haven't gotten my MW in yet so I don't know exactly.

You can still run 3 non-uniques. One just has to be different than the other two.

Ship tokens = The cardboard base inserts?

Ship tokens = The cardboard base inserts?

Yup.

I think, after thinking it through, they realized there was no real reason to force that dial rule.

To pick a nit... I think they realized that they gain more in good PR then they gained by enforcing the rule, and not because there was no real reason to do it. Perhaps the last few days worth of posts on the issue really did make them think that enough people were unhappy with it and the reasons for doing it were outweighed by upset customers.

I think they said "in a world with llamas and dresses, but without Leonard Nimoy, let them use whatever dials they want."

It doesn't seem like anyone has noticed it, but the FAQ ruling actually goes the other way, too.

IE., buying 'most wanted' now adds another Y-Wing and two more Z-95s to Rebel fleets, if the tile facings work out. IE., if you had 6 Z-95s already, you can now run at 8x Rebel Z-95 list by using the pair of Scum Z-95 minis and the Rebel tiles and cards you already have (presumably something like 4 Bandits and 4 Talas).

To help the prior prophecy, one of these links is a rick roll, the other one is an awesome starwars related song... The order does not matter, as they've both been posted at the same time....

It's really quite like rolling for an asteroid - you'll hit or miss... unless you choose not to play, but now, you can use any dial you like!

More proof ffg do listen, kind of means they didn't need to add those extra dials to most wanted but whatever dials wear out spares arnt a bad thing.

You forget that for some people this will be their first X-Wing purchase besides the Starter Set. The dials need to be there.

Again, FFG shows how caring they are about their players. I am really impressed. I was hesitant on buying the Most Wanted box, but I think this makes the deal!

Glad to see the change, now I just wish I could go back in time and not have read all the ridiculous arguments about why factions dials should be enforced (by some people who in this very thread now sound completely okay with the change).

I was one of those people pitching justifications for faction dials, because there really are good reasons to use the appropriate dial if it's feasible.

I am, however, completely okay with FFG effectively adding two Y-wings and four Headhunters to my Rebel fleet, and three Headhunters and two HWKs to my Scum fleet. I'll still use the right dials when I can.

This actually makes me much more likely to pick up Most Wanted now, and then probably an extra rebel Z as well for the utility.

**** **** **** ****!!!

I just bought two most wanted today just to get the second firespray dial (didn't even need more base plates as kath and boba are separate).

Can't believe I just wasted $40 now...

eBay them.

I'd honestly have a hard time flying a squad that did not have all matching dials......no matter the faction.

Fair, I didn't mean the points were invalid just that the threads as a whole generally spiraled out of control and turned into shouting matches. That said I'm just glad everyone can relax and fly their spaceships again. Nope, won't be any drama on this forum again any time soon... :)

Well Osorishii, nobody's stopping you spending on extras you don't need.

Have you ever met my wife! :P

Remember you still need the base plates, so you can't fly all the combinations of two firesprays without two most wanted anyway, double merc for me! It's great that we got so much in most wanted.... It could've been two packs with extra firesprays and HWKs, and even mor cash to get the base and cards... Seriously, there is sooo much goodness in most wanted...

So now rebel players will have rebel dials and scum dials on the table and scum players will have scum dials and imperial dials on the table............I've never accidentally picked up someone else's.dial in a close dogfight......yet.

I'll stick with my faction specific......:D

Not saying its a bad move as lots have asked for it, I just like a little "order" in my universe ;-)

I bet that makes squadron building apps harder to tell when you fielded more than your collection. Still I guess it is good because that nearly doubles my the S&V small ship squadrons and adds 3 ships to the rebels.

I think this is a boon to the S&V factions more than the Rebel factions, still I can understand why imperial players may feel sulky, all they get is a triple bomb firespray out of this deal.

Nope because the hwk, firespray and extra y-wing dials all come with their respective ships.
