I'm strictly an Imperial player, but I bought a bunch of Scum for cards. I'm going to give my nephew the Scum ships, he's just getting into the game, but he'll be storing the ships in my hobby space (the only place we play) and I know the (IMO) poorly implemented StarViper paint scheme's gunna bother me. I wanna fix it.

Has anyone who's worked with the model been able match the white-grey to an available hobby paint? The basic idea is cover up that ugly Black Sun logo ...

I mean c'mon, Black Sun ships SHOULDN'T have big iconography on them. I know they do, various sources do show the big dumb logos, but they shouldn't I'm saying. I've never seen a black Escalade drive past with 'CRIPS' spray-painted on the door. It's dumb. ...

Anyway, sorry. Cover up the logo and wash the whole ship with a brown wash. Done.

Not to discourage you from painting your ships the way you want or anything, just to provoke some discussion...

But Black Sun isn't a street gang, the are more like the Italian mob in New York. Are you saying you can't imaging vehicles belonging to one of the mob's front companies having that business' logo on them? A billionaire CEO who happens to be a high ranking mob boss might not have his company's name on his personal vehicle?

A mobster-slash-CEO's super expensive sportscar with a big New York City Department of Sanitation roundel on the hood... ?

Jokes aside, I know what you mean, I'm just not into it. And you're not wrong, it just doesn't do it for me, the iconography.

Lemme tell you, if I was some hot-shot fighter ace hired by Black Sun to be on-call for whatever needed doing, I would definitely not want a big Black Sun roundel on my newly-gifted StarViper. But that's just me.

Back to the paint. Any ideas??

Paint them black, highlight medium gray, lightly drybrush metallic for the metal feel.

It's a little irritating thematically because it means it's out of place if I ever want to use the Vipers as Zann Consortium craft.

I think the black sun logos are ugly and ruin an otherwise good paints job. Same with the z95s.

Same here. I'll be painting mine to have more of a generic MandalMotors look.

I'd like to remove the logo from one of them so it matches the Xizor card's art.
