Percentage of Scum in Tournaments this Weekend

By CruzinToVictory, in X-Wing

So out of the 8 people at the tournament I went to this weekend, my friend and I were the only two who brought Scum lists.

I finished in first and he finished in third. Scum represent!

Budgernaut, yesterday I flew 3 Cartels with Mangler Cannons and IG-88A with Draw Their Fire and Advanced Sensors. I beat the Kenkirk/Vessery combo and the 7 TIE swarm while losing to the 4th place Soontir/Turr/Sigma squad and the Champion's dual Thug and dual Hired gun squad which destroyed me 100-0.

2 scum at last tournie

one double aggressor from the guy who was playing them and nothing but them since they were available on vassal :P

another attempt to make due with just one most wanted + star viper and he did quite alright with kavil + xizor + y-wing + headhunter

would have been running Xizor's Exterminator' Inc. (xizor + 4 bug-zapper Zs) but my order's still in limbo :(

Only 1 scum list at a 12-person store championship in Oklahoma City yesterday, but everything here is delayed because of snow and nobody had their scum yet.

I played against it. Scum Boba and 2 m3a HLC's.

Our actual store championship isn't until next month but yesterday day we had a (somewhat perfectly timed) "Pirate" tournament where players were allowed to mix faction but not use named pilots. It turned out to be a blast; with all the new ships and all the mostly low PS numbers everyone had a great time discovering new things from both the new and old ships. If you want a fun shake up to events, I highly recommend it!

Two Scum lists out of 15 in our store champs yesterday -- one dual IG-2000 list and a Firespray/Y-wing/Z-95 list. I didn't face either and neither made the top 4 finals cut so I don't know details.

There were one or two Imperial lists running Autothrusters (I faced one with AT on Soontir Fel -- it allowed him to escape one attack but he got stressed, ioned, and destroyed a round later).

I did have Bomb Loadout on my Rebel Scum list (2 Y's and 2 Z-95s). Other than the rebel astromechs it could have been a Scum list.

Actually, as I'm typing this I'm remembering that another person played Scum besides my friend and I. I played him in the first round and won 100-0 and he dropped, which is why I forgot at first lol

I ran:

Serissu

4x Binayre Pirate w/ Feedback Array

Syndicate Thug w/ Ion Cannon Turret and Unhinged Astromech

It was an 8 person tournament so I only played three rounds, but the first round was against another Scum player who flew 2 interceptors, 2 headhunters, and Xizor. That match was the oddest I've ever played, because he K-turned on turn 2 so I got free shots on everything and wiped him out without losing a ship.

Second round was against 2 dagger squadron B-Wings with HLC and FCS and 2 talas. I flew everything in formation up the side of the map and he decided to joust with me. I took out both headhunters in the first pass and ioned one B-Wing for literally the entire game until he flew off the map. Only lost one headhunter that match.

Finals was actually against my friend who was flying two Interceptors with Mangler Cannons, a Y Wing with Ion Cannon Turret, and Xizor. This was my closest match by far, but I tricked him turn two by making it look like I was going up the side and turning into the middle instead. As a result he flew directly in front of my entire fleet when he was expecting to be flanking me. Took out both interceptors pretty quickly and whittled down the Y-Wing from there. It went to time before I was able to finish off Xizor, but I lost two headhunters and my Y-Wing in that one. One more headhunter and I would have lost by points.

Things I learned:

  • Feedback Array is incredible. Numerous times I took out ships with it, and on a 2 attack ship it's great to have the option to do automatic damage even outside your arc.
  • Serissu makes even 2 agility ships insanely tanky. You roll a lot of evades when you're focused and get to re-roll one die.
  • Flying a swarm is not easy. I had never flown more than 4 ships before, but I had to be willing to break formation after turn 2 or 3, and managing/planning that many manuvers can be confusing (but I loved it).
  • Xizor is sneaky good. Built in barrel roll and boost, combined with a pretty good dial makes him pretty unpredictable. My friend had Advanced Sensors, Inertial Dampeners, and VI on him so he moved last, could barrell roll before moving, etc and trying to catch him at the end was no easy task. Also, the Dampners saved his life at the end because he would have ended up in range one of me without it.

Was a blast to fly and I'm loving Scum right now!
