First turn in encounter 2 of a quest?

By Kburg7, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Sorry this might be a stupid question. Just started playing Descent for the first time with a couple friends. After an encounter ends, do the heroes get the first turn in the second encounter no matter what, or does turn order continue where it left off?

Unless specified otherwise in the Quests book for the encounter you´re playing, Heroes start on the start tile and get to start their turn followed by the OL just like if you started a brand new mission.

For clarity sake, mostly like a new mission:

-The heroes take their turns first unless otherwise specified.

-heroes carry over all damage and conditions from encounter 1, bur recover all fatigue- their heroic feats refresh.

-if a hero was knocked out at the end of encounter 1, he can perform a standup action before map setup- he then recovers all fatigue as well.

-heroes keep all seach cards acquired in encounter 1, and keep them faceup or facedown, depending. The search deck is not reshuffled.

-The OL keeps his hand, draw deck, and discard pile just like they were at the end of encounter 1 (he does not draw a new hand, or discard down to the number of heroes.)

Wait, Zaltyre, heroes recover all fatigue? Dang, I've been playing wrong this whole time.

Yup, check out "Quests" in the right column of page 18 of the rulebook.

That's why you sometiems get questions about heres wanting to stall the game to heal up before the next part of the quest.

You can be fully fatigued and you get it all back, but the damage and conditions stay, so you have your healer remove conditions, and heal up everyone to full...

It can be annoying if you're the OL, but if the heros are in a quest where they've gained full control and can put off the winning condition? Perfectly legal!

Its often not advisable for the heroes to do this, as it means the OL gets a full hand of OL cards. Even if the heroes end up with full health going into Encounter 2, that is still a very bad thing to happen.
