Spark of Rebellion fan made sourcebook in the making.

Wouldn't that be cool? Of course, they've said S2 is double the episodes of S1, so twice the work... :)

But Phoenix Squadron looks cool, especially the new Rebel cruiser. Can't wait.

I thought I would ask how is the Sourcebook going now that the First Season of Rebels is done.

Its coming along :) I am doing the layouts at this time trying to get it to look as much as an actual sourcebook as possible. I will post a lil teaser soon of a planet page :)

What are you using for the page background and cover background?

I'll tease a little bit more... The artwork looks awesome so far. Content wise, we have four modular encounters in some stage of progress (a few nearly finished). A few more planned. There are player species, weapons, armor, vehicles, NPCs, planets, and more. We're basically trying to emulate the "setting" books (Lords of Nal Hutta and Suns of Fortune) out so far. Still trying to figure out what the scope will be of the first release, since if we include everything we think of, it'll take forever to finish.

If anyone is interested in contributing, hit me up with a DM. There's still room for more people to assist with writing and statting out things. :)

You big tease you ;)

Here is a work in progress page for the planet Lothal. I copied the background info from the rebels wiki page, however I plan on editing it alot. I just wanted to let you guys know that the Rebels team is hard at work :)

Looks great!

I hope this doesn't count as thread necromancy, but I'd like to offer mine, and my husbands help if you want it.

The more the merrier! I'll shoot you a PM shortly.

As far as progress goes... Here's little tease... We've come up with some cool items I didn't expect to find in the show, but there's a lot of supplementary books and whatnot that give jusssssst enough info to build upon.

And I'm very excited about the latest modular encounter. I play tested it with my group last week and it was a lot of fun!

Not sure how I can help, but im willing to pitch in where I can...

The thread wasn't dead, it was merely slumbering...

It's pining for the fjords...

What kind of talk is that?

What kind of talk is that?

It is a quote from Monty Python. Parrot Sketch to be precise.

Lol, that's the next line mate :)

"Pining for the fjords? What kind of talk is that!"

I suppose that it depends on which version you are listening to. :D There have been what, 20 some odd versions?

Of course, I feel dumb not realizing that it was one of the versions.

I'm old skool - original telly version :)

Nice.

I'm not sure which version I have listened to the most. It is one from their "Final Rip-off" album set.

I don't know how much of the book you've finished and precisely what you want to put in it, but I am concerned that you're going to focus too tightly on the "emerging Rebel Monkey-wrenchers living by the skin of their teeth" part of the initial Rebellion and pseudo-rebellion that preceded it.

I think a sourcebook that really does justice to the nascence of the Rebellion needs to encompass more than what I mentioned above. When precisely was the word "rebellion" uttered and by whom? What were the very first actions of the new Rebellion? What actions were taken in that awful time between the end of Episode III and the time not long before Episode IV when we knew the Rebellion was a thing?

How would PC politicians and diplomats work to limit the encroachment of Palpatine's abomination upon their people? How would they keep their people safe while still trying to assist a movement that in this time frame is really just as fragile as the lightest whisper?

We understand that there are real, honest to goodness, full blown, capital J Jedi (not the shadows of their former glory that can be found in the EotE or even AoR books) who weren't eradicated after General Order 66, what kind of campaigns could GM's create for them?

What did the Empire do wrong in its early days? What protocols had it not quite gotten down pat yet? What technologies was it using in transition from the slapdash procurement of the Grand Army to the ruthlessly efficient and calculating procurement machine of the Imperial Armed Forces?

What happened to all those Clones? Some became Stormies, some left the service. Some were executed for failing to kill their Jedi officers. How will you deal with them? How many ARC troopers and Kitarn Clone Commandos are left? What does their rather less biddable personalities mean for their place in the New Order?

I don't say this to be harsh, but if this is really only going to be a book about "how to play FFG's Star Wars so it'll feel like you're playing Star Wars Rebels just like the TV show!" then while that Sourcebook will be valuable, it wouldn't be anywhere near as profound as a book that delves into what I've spoken of above.

But I must say, kickass cover. :)

Aren't many of those questions something future Rebels episodes or an official book supposed to be answering? Not a fan sourcebook? Those things could be speculated about in this fan sourcebook, but they wouldn't have much weight and subject to quickly being rejected in a future episode.

I doubt Rebels Episodes will touch much on it/them because it's a kid's show and while it can get a mite serious, I doubt it'll get all that serious. You do make a good point about rewriting stuff though, the Powers that be at Lucasland seem to be exceedingly willing to throw out stuff if it's inconvenient.

Just another tease page Im working on with the guys! Coming along really well and they are kicking some ass with content!

Remember the Clone Wars?

First Episode (hardly a spoiler): Yoda teaches the clones that they're all important and that you should never give up! Yay!

Later Episodes (no spoilers): We delve into political corruption, assassination, romantic scandal, terrorist attacks, the affects of war, etc., etc...

Saying "It's a kid's show" is often mistaken for "It's dumbed down for kids," when really a lot of kids shows become very complex, and often dark. I can list various "kids' shows" that have had some serious backstory and events going on, and yet they were broadcasted on "children's" networks. Saying that Rebels is a "kid's show" doesn't mean it's simple, it means it's targeted for kids! Why watch the heroes conquer evil day after day when we all know that evil wouldn't be around if it was all that easy?

However, that's a bit off topic. I'm excited for this sourcebook; hopefully, it's released for all of our viewing pleasure?

Yeah it will be free for all of course :)

@Corradus: excellent post, and all very pertinent points. I certainly hope some of that gets expanded on in season 2, and given what very scant information we have right now (Sato & Phoenix Squadron) it seems like some of it will. The intention with the project is to flesh out the setting for Lothal. We haven's seen many Imperial occupied planets really, the effect on the populace. This is what we hope to do, along with statting out some of the new toys on the show.

Of course, it's an electronic document, so we hope to expand it as the new material comes out. Initially it's not going to be everything you seem to be hoping for in your post, but it was never meant to be. The scope is very much: here's Lothal and surrounding areas in 5 BBY, what fun can we have here?

For the record though, I'd love to see more of the stuff you mention. Fingers crossed!

Edit: on the issue of them rewriting or kicking stuff out, yes that may still happen. But now with the story group's overall guidance, media is already much more unified than it ever was in the past. Rebels for example had many details which on the face of it were throw-aways, but came back later with more relevance. Things from the show pop up in the supplementary books and vice versa. Nothing essential to the story, but lots of nice extra world building. I hope this continues going forward, and there's every indication it will.
