Star Wars Rebels

By Kyla, in X-Wing Off-Topic

All I can say is that my Storm Troopers equipped with Savage Weaponry makes the Rebels cry.

But I do understand. It's a kids show with a very small ensemble of heroes. You can't very well have good guy losses without having an army of disposables (ie clones). They have been slowly growing up the series though. I did not see the double beheadings coming.

What? Beheadings? dafuq? I tought that only happened on the news...

Tja, beheadings are pretty Pop these days!

I agree with Filoni, that it's neccessary to avoid a situation where the constant grimdark of a setting snuffs out the fun of a series (GOT is the best example for it).

Nevertheless I'd still love to see the crew loose really painfully for once (somewhere in the second season) to the empire by loosing a living teammember for good due to betrayal or death, just to show how dangerous the Empire is for the team.

After all the struggle and following rise of their beloved characters after a crushing defeat is what viewers want to see.

Yet I am quite confident in the production team to keep up with their style and logical story progression (which sometimes has an even Tarantinoesque build-up = Tarkins Interview) to make us both enjoy the heorics and dread the dangers our heroes have to face.

A-wings aren't a post-Yavin fighter anymore apparently.

I finally got to watch the finale last night and holy crap..

..I haven't been so excited for cartoon since Transformers! The lightsaber fight was great, the writing was fantastic. A felt a few episodes drug a little, but this was just really impressive. Ahsoka I already knew was coming which meh, but whatever. I truly enjoyed it.

They never were, an earlier incarnation the R-22 spearhead - also called the A-wing was around at least a year before yavin. - this said, 6 years before yavin is pushing it a bit.

Considering the number of Prototype A-Wings I keep seeing played on a regular basis, not really. And it's only 5 years before Yavin, not 6....now 4 if you count each season of Rebels covering a years time.

I stand corrected. Either way if we go by the X-wing games they were defo around before yavin. I had however only assumed a year or two before. Esp as I was working on the assumption that the A-wing came after the X, and the X was only like a year before yavin.

Maybe we should loosen up on the previously established canon in favour of the actual Lucas-Disney one all right...

So, Vader clearly makes a splash...

Yeah actually the R-22-Spearhead first appeared in 15 BBY. They were in the series premiere of the Droids cartoon set in 15 BBY which aired in 1985. But for some reason West End Games stated that the A-Wing was developed in the aftermath of Yavin.when they got the RPG license a couple of years later. And then the A-Wing appeared before Yavin again in the X-Wing PC game. All of this led to the creation of the R-22 Spearhead which was nicknamed the A-wing to explain the pre-Yavin appearances of A-Wing like craft.

The same was true of the H-60 Tempest and the B-Wing except the H-60 Tempest didn't appear until the second episode of Droids and the only craft named B-Wing to appear in X-Wing was the actual A/SF-01 B-Wing.

Season 2 looks pretty awesome.

6/20 1 hour premiere

Any word on when season 1 on DVD will be out?

Not soon enough?

Too bad I was hoping to do a season one marathon in the days leading up to the season premiere,

Now that Vader is on the case is there anyway that the storyline can end without the deaths of the entire Ghost crew and Tano?

If Vader is used sparingly.

It's not hard to evade Vader..... everything he does is at a walking pace.

Just like the Terminator...

Not in his Advanced.

There is going to be an element of suspense missing I fear. Its not like they are going to defeat Vader. Just mainly try to run from him.
