Imperial Cruiser, last episode of Rebels

By Plainsman, in X-Wing

Also twice the size...

Also twice the size...

Since the Raider is 150m and the cruiser is meant to be 200m the cruiser would be 1/3rd longer. Not twice the size.

Would love to see this in the game need more big ships

love my raider

I rather suspect it won't be. Just a little bit too big.

That said, I'd be equally surprised if we DIDN'T get it in Armada. It's scaled about the same (not exactly, but close enough), and conceptually fitting a similar role, to the Nebulon-B frigate.

I would like either the Raider to appear in something canonical or this to appear in X-Wing. This doesn't have the random lines of the Raider and had docking ports and what could be loading/docking bays too.

But that's just me.

[Edit] P.S. I would like the Raider to appear in something canonical regardless of what other ships we see in this game.

You guys should Take a look at what MacrossVF1 is doing.

He is building that very cruiser.

He's scratch building it, and doing a fantastic job !

Barry is right, this is the ship I'm currently scratch building. My first estimate put it around 200-250 meters in length, though after seeing a good photo of a Lambda docked with the ship I could narrow it down to around 235 meters. Far too big for X-wing epic, though a good candidate for Armada.

If there is a third Epic for the two factions who have them (poor Scum and Villainy), I'd want Empire to have this ship.

Looks much cooler than the Raider and is official on-screen Disney Lucasfilm approved canon.

FTFY.

Disney doesn't care about what's canon and what's not. Disney cares about marketing and making money.

Lucasfilm is in charge of what's canon, working with licencees, and all that stuff. Lucasfilm makes Star Wars just like Marvel Studios makes the Marvel movies. Disney just takes the paycheck. The End.

This would definitely be an awesome addition to the Raider and Gozantis!

ARGHKITTENS

IS TOTALLY A THING!

It's not a thing, Darius.

Totally! But for Rebels.

Because The Empire's first wave already came with a carrier.

The Imperial Light Carrier is my new favorite thing.

Tons of fighter bay space. Turrets all over the thing. Beautiful.

Two pages and no-one has mentioned MacrossVF1 schartchbuilt version yet?

So should we call it Phoenix Fleet now instead of Phoenix Squadron since they have atleast 7-10 capital ships? And for god sakes where do they keep getting replacement A-wings from? They were down to like three last time I checked now Hera says they are half strength, they've been like that throughout half the season!!! And I also nominate the Hammerhead Frigate for the next Rebel Epic ship while we're throwing ideas out there.

It's been referred to as "Phoenix Group" several times, hasn't it?

Also, Hera referred to losing pilots faster than they could replace them, which implies that they are replacing them. Just slowly. It's not like the Rebellion is a big thing yet, with young pilots from across the galaxy dreaming of joining up to fight the Empire.

On the subject of the carrier, it's pretty cool, but definitely Armada-scale, and most likely Empire.

Databank Entry is out.

Officially called the Quasar Fire-class Cruiser-Carrier. Though still referred to as an Imperial Light Carrier.

Since A-Wings are hyperspace capable, it's entirely possible that we never saw the entire squadron at once, because some of them were ALWAYS out on missions. So they may have had a lot more to begin with than what we saw when Vader attacked.

The Flurry*!!!

It's nice to see old EU ships that were not awful looking get pushed into Canon. The Quasar-class Carriers have always made the most sense to me when it comes to transporting fighter squadrons.

*not the Flurry, but a ship of the same class. I really need to start watching Rebels.

Remember guys, Disney doesn't care about the Expanded Universe! #LEGENDSFOREVER!

oh wait they do

hm

I obviously need to upgrade my reading skills...

So how many fighters do you think the Carrier can hold?

In the EU, it was 48. But I dunno if you can really fit 12 in each of those bays.

Granted, they are double layered, because they can land on the floor AND hang from the ceiling.

When the Luitenant orders the crew to abandon ship we see a couple of shots of ordinary ties on racks and it looks like theres room for at least 6 per rack (three front three rear), and as you say the hanger floor would allow at least that again. 48 would be pretty damned packed, but I could see it as their max capacity... though not their regular compliment.

Edit: Though that said each hangar only has 4 of the actual mounts the ties lock on to. Perhaps this carrier is currently specifically set up for bomber support (more spare rooom for ordinance out on deck, a hanger kept clear for emergency landings etc), and the spare racks have been packed down? Especially as the ship seems nearly empty after launching only 8 bombers. Though as every bay launched two bombers (going from the picture above) and we then saw at least one bay launching 3 fighters it does imply a greater capacity even if we cant see them from external shots for some technicsal reason.

And in one shot (where the storm troopers disrupt the Twilek Vs Sev/Sabine fight, you can actually see into the next hanger sideways on, and see that there are actually three or four rows (front to back) of docking points.

This is all very inconsistent. Looks like we have yet another starwars vehicle which is bigger on the inside. :P

There are no windows on the upper section of the hull above the hangar bays, so I would say that the carrier can carry more fighters than the ones that are hanging on the bays, not unlike what was shown in Star Wars: TIE Fighter. Extra fighters are internally kept in racks and delivered to the hangar bays as needed, optimizing the payload while keeping the hangars clear.

The pilots only need to wait on the platforms for the next fighter to be "hung", then they jump in, take off, and the next pilot in the queue is served.

The great thing about his carrier is that, if this works as I am saying, it can launch waves of up to 8 fighters at the same time for faster shock response to attacks, while other imperial capital ships launch much smaller waves.

I doubt it would be an Imperial ship in Armada because Armada is EU and every appearance of the class in the EU was Rebel, New Republic, or allies of the above. And even in canon the one we've seen started as an Imp ship but was captured by the Rebels and the Quaser Fire will probably get more screen time as a rebel ship class then an imp one

Granted. But at the end of the day, the Empire is still the ones making them. And while the Rebels one will no doubt get the most screentime, it's possibly the only one the Rebellion will ever have.
