Imperial Cruiser, last episode of Rebels

By Plainsman, in X-Wing

And even in canon the one we've seen started as an Imp ship but was captured by the Rebels and the Quaser Fire will probably get more screen time as a rebel ship class then an imp one

Granted. But at the end of the day, the Empire is still the ones making them. And while the Rebels one will no doubt get the most screentime, it's possibly the only one the Rebellion will ever have.

You mean like the Nebulon-B?

Sure, the Imperials make them, but the Rebellion has a habit of liberating the ships they need from shipyards and converting crews to their cause.

Are we sure that's even still the case in new canon though?

After all, in the old canon, the Quasar Fire used to be a converted civilian bulk freighter. Now, it's a purpose built light carrier made for the Empire.

The opposite could end up being true for the Nebulon. Instead of being an Imperial military frigate that gets stolen a lot, it's a civilian craft that's converted for military use.

Gods only know what the current canon status of the Neb B is.

I think it's the same, but really need proof.

Here's hoping that Rebels can salvage some of the good legends stories on how the Rebellion was able to procure warships like the Neb-B. It's already headed in the right direction with the Quasar class.

The Flurry*!!!

It's nice to see old EU ships that were not awful looking get pushed into Canon. The Quasar-class Carriers have always made the most sense to me when it comes to transporting fighter squadrons.

*not the Flurry, but a ship of the same class. I really need to start watching Rebels.

It was one of the worse looking designs before Rebels triangled it up a bit. Now it fits the Imperial aesthetic.

They call it an Imperial Light Cruiser in the episode guide.

Would love to see this in the game need more big ships

love my raider

I love how people keep rediscovering the Arquitens class.

Did no one watch the Clone Wars series? And you call yourselves fans..... :P

FYI, MacrossVF1 already made a full-scale one, and it is GORGEOUS.

ARGHKITTENS!!!

The Imperial Light Carrier is my new favorite thing.

Tons of fighter bay space. Turrets all over the thing. Beautiful.

I watched it, I liked it, then I thought: Why the hell did they squish the fighter bays all the way at the ass of the carrier? LOOK at all the wasted space. The Venator with its weird covered runway is better than this.

Way to kill things for me, brain. Sigh.

It's ok. I can help.

Ship's in high atmosphere or possibly low orbit means weight becomes an issue due to gravity. Those bays look like they are MADE for dropping bombers on runs on ground target. Oh hey, what were they doing in that episode?

Can they be elongated to carry more? Sure. that's a reasonable modification to make. Might not work quiiiite as well in upper atmo though.

Same as the Victory I Star Destroyer could LAND on planets if I recall. Victory II, not so much.

ISDs can land on planets- and if they can't land, they can sure as hell get inches from the ground.

Probably depends on gravity. Usually ISD's CRASH into planets.

I want to see this now. would be fun to "push" a ISD with your finger, like a blimp.

I don't think there's such a thing as a ship that can't land on a planet.

The TIE Bomber in this episode pretty much shows us how it works. Ships have antigrav that make them just straight up ignore gravity. Then it's just a matter of using thrusters to move around. I'm betting this is the case for pretty much all starships.

Exceptions likely include something like the Death Star, which was mentioned had to be built in orbit. And they acted like this was unusual.

Presumably, ISDs crash because they are damaged to the point where their antigrav stops functioning.

Way Back when, in oldcanon ISD's specifically could not, which was why the VSD's were awesome, those side fin bits were for atmo.

Now, yeah I concede that nothing says no.

Uh, yeah- pretty much exactly what happens. Right on the nose.

Well I've played Star Wars Battle Front and I've seen cruisers crash on to planets.

[Edit] P.S. and then I get yelled at for watching the ship crash rather than fighting.

Why don't they come out with a one or two person mission so we can just wander around the scenery?

VSD, victory or Venator?

Sorry, TIE Parlance.

Victory. Hence the fins.

ok cool, just wondered cause the Venator lands to. I love the Courascant clone base, and the prison Ahsoka was in, so epic!
