Imperial Cruiser, last episode of Rebels

By Plainsman, in X-Wing

Did you see the Imperial "Cruiser" as they called it in the last episode of Rebels? Perhaps this could be a future Epic Imperial ship?!?

Too big:

I agree, looks too big. However, I do like that design. Wedge shape of a Star Destroyer with the engines of republic freighters from the prequels. Kind of a transitional hybrid type look. It's cool.

This ship isn't new. It was in The Clone Wars I'm pretty sure.

They call it an Imperial Light Cruiser in the episode guide.

Indeed, it's an Arquitens class light cruiser. Having exactly the same rear engine assembly as the 120m Republic cruiser it should be easy enought to calculate an approximate length. Eyeballing it, it doesn't appear to be significantly larger than the cr90. With a wee bit of scale fudging I reckon it's doable,

RogueLieutenant, where did you find those images?

I liked it too, just saw a post naming the ship on the Star Wars Rebels facebook group. So just started googling it:

200 meters long

4 quad lasers (the turrets top and bottom)

4 double turbo lasers (the broadside guns)

4 missile tubes (2 per side between the broadside guns)

Repligcru.jpg

it was in the Clone Wars show, there was even a LEGO kit I think

Nah, that's not official. Too refined.

Assuming the engines are the same as the 115m long Consular Class, we get a beam (width) of around 70m, and a length of about 165m, so about 10% longer than a CR90. Another good scaling point is probably the docking rings on the sides, might have a try with those later.

Edit: Looking again, the centre portion is wider than the engines, probably closer to 80m, this would put the length up to pretty close to 180 - 190m.

you have some really nice drawings there Rogue Lieutenant / Wolf. i was just over at StarShip Modeler starting a new thread inquiring about some screen grabs to see about getting a Imperial version of the ship grown to be used as a new master.

If it is not an all grey Star Destroyer, it is not worthy to be called an Imperial ship.

About time something showed up from the Clone Wars in functioning order.

They call it an Imperial Light Cruiser in the episode guide.

I rather suspect it won't be. Just a little bit too big.

That said, I'd be equally surprised if we DIDN'T get it in Armada. It's scaled about the same (not exactly, but close enough), and conceptually fitting a similar role, to the Nebulon-B frigate.

ARGHKITTENS

so many zombies today

ARGH! KITTEN ZOMBIES!

ARGHKITTENS

IS TOTALLY A THING!

If there is a third Epic for the two factions who have them (poor Scum and Villainy), I'd want Empire to have this ship.

Looks much cooler than the Raider and is official on-screen Disney approved canon.
