I'm sure many of you are tired of seeing this posts, but I really could use some advice.

My local store is doing it's first organized tournament on Saturday. There will be prize support (I think it is a game day pack they have had since 2013) but it still going to be a pretty laid back event. So, I'm not worried about taking a list that I have had a lot of time to practice. In fact I don't really get much opportunity to play against seasoned opponents.

I think I want to run Soontir Fel. I picked him up a few weeks ago and have played around with him a bit with against my 8 year. The new autothrusters sound cool and it is an iconic ship. My question is who do I put with him? I checked out Juggler's thread on different builds but it looked like all the interceptor lists had unreleased content. Another limitation I have is a lack of firespray expansion and no way to reasonably get one. Some things I've been thinking are:

Chiraneau - I don't know if Fel is sufficient to replace Wisper in a 2 ship build also I feel like I'm stretching to spend the last 7 points or so especially since I lack gunner and stealth device

Oicunn - I just like the idea behind this guy, but I would have the same problem as with Chiraneau, maybe I could fly him with just an EU and throw in an Academy Tie or something

Echo and Something else - I thought about maybe adding Jax but I've never flow 3 arc dodgers, maybe a vadar shuttle or ......I don't know that's why I'm asking you.

Anyway, if you have anything thoughts on those or a favorite Interceptor build that you think would work well at this stage of the game I would appreciate your input. Also general interceptor tips would be great too.

You can assume I have one of everything except firespray, y-wing and tantive expansions. (I don't have one of everything but I can get anything of the other expansions)

My other point I would like help with is Biggs. My cousin will be in the tournament and he loves Biggs and for some reason I regularly lose to him. What is the best strategy against Biggs.

How many TIE fighters do you own? Autothrusters is out today, with the Star Viper. Get one!!! So you most certainly could run Sootir with Push the Limit and Autothrusters. If used correctly (make sure to always have focus and evade on him) then he is a pretty tough nut to crack, especially when he is out of arc and getting autothrusters on turreted ships.

After that... I personally like a mini swarm, Howlrunner plus 2 Obsidian Squadrons and two Academy pilots is a pretty good base. A lot of folks are running the two ship builds with a Fat Decimator or a Fat Falcon and the hard counter to that is the swarm. A 6 ship build give you plenty of room to make mistakes, and a lot of damage you can dump onto a Decimator or a Falcon.

Now, they take a little thought to fly, those 5-8 ship builds, and you need to be careful with your bumps. Use your Academies to block high PS ships, try to get Soontir on a flank and getting his Autothrusers bonus all day long. Remember Howl's ability to make those TIEs even stronger.

I would not recommend the two ship build to anyone who hasn't practiced it. There is a very thin margin for error with them. And unless you have about 15-20 games with a Phantom, or have a very high level of special awareness, I would never recommend a Phantom to anyone who hasn't flown one.

Yeah, Soontir+Autothrusters+PTL+Stealth with mini swarm (some combination of cheap TIEs, maybe with Howlrunner) should be fun and effective.

What expansions DO you have, and in what quantities?

It's great and all to throw out hyperbolic suggestions, but if you don't have the cards, you can't play the ship

My advice?

1-Pick ships you are comfortable with.

2-Enjoy the ride a day full of X-Wing.

PS; My 'go to' Squad for fun and giggles is Soontir+shield (trust me; Vader crits your precious Soontir without that shield!) plus 2 shuttles. I generally run these 2 'naked' This means my squad now is 76 pts. I have no auto-thrusters atm so I'd run either a 3rd shuttle or 2 Academies.

The best advice I think that can be given is to go there and have as much fun you can. Don't go there expecting to win but if it happens it will be a nice bonus.

Thanks for the replies. I only have 3 tie fighters so to do a small swarm I would have to borrow ships. I know people who would probably let me but I would rather use my own stuff. Also I don't fly well in formation.

My personal collection is 1 of everything except firespray, y-wing, hawk, z-95, yt-2400, and tantive. I also don't currently have any scum stuff but will be picking up at least a starviper this evening. I know my store currently has plenty of hawks and z-95s in stock so I could pick up those if I need to.

I'm not trying to be hypercompetitive at this point. I just haven't built a list with Soontir that I feel really synergizes well with him. I'm curious what others think works well. Also I want to beat my cousin.
