Not sure if this has already been asked but if I roll an evade, do I have to cancel a hit?

A situation came up last night where my opponent had Munitions Failsafe and fired missiles at me. He scored 3 hits and I rolled 3 evades. Could I have canelled 2 hits and let the third go through so that he would lose the Failsafe?

No, you are forced to roll defense dice (the pilot will try to survive no matter what his inner -your- voice say), and every evade result on dice WILL cancel a damage result from your opponent.

However, you can decide on spending focus/evade tokens or not, or if you use any other defensive abilities.

Since we're kinda on a similar thing, you can also spend target locks to modify 0 dice.

Ok then, since we're on that subject; what good/purpose does it do to get "more" focus if you can't keep them or use them. Say when some members give other members focus. Can you "use" say all your focus to cancel any hits while either attacking or defending? sit: I get hit 3X, I roll 3 def dice and get 1 evade and 2 focus. I have 2 focus on my ship. Can I use them to cancel the other 2 hits against me? or on the attack I get 2 hits on 4 dice and have 2 hits and 2 focus. Could those focus be used to count for hits??
