Most Wanted: No scenario included

By SteveG, in X-Wing

Hi all, was lucky to be in a location where you can pick up one of these.

I notice no scenario, so are they a think of the past?

I hope we are not seeing money saving moves from FFG over their UBV of quality, but maybe that's the case,

At least we still get the thick card stock ( unlike Eldtritch Horror and Imperial Assault).

Anyway, scenarios..."who cares" or a loss?

Many people like the scenarios. I've yet to play very many, but they're a nice change of pace, and I think doing away with them would be a mistake on FFG's part.

Has anyone else received Most Wanted and not gotten a scenario? Maybe this was just mispackaged...

I think it'd be a loss, but Most Wanted is an unusual box - they've included extra card for other ships etc. I'd be more concerned if the Aggressor didn't have a scenario in it.

I'm guessing customer feedback probably showed that the majority of players just play deathmatch so they stopped wasting money on designing them. Probably around the same time and for the same reason they developed Mission Control.

Most wanted didn't have one but aggressor has a sweet 3 player mission I can't wait to try out.

Bummer about MW not having one. It would be kinda cool to include a couple scenarios to introduce some of the S&V pilots people may not know.

Is there a rulebook that came with the expansion at all?

Any possibility there is an extra scenario in the back of that, rather than the standalone scenario booklet that most expansions have come with?

i actually doubt this is true. i suspect that the majority of players actually DO play this game for the stories and scenarios, it is just that you wont find them in internet forums :)

I think scenarios normally introduce new concepts included with the ship, whether that be a type of maneuver, weapon, or even something like debris tokens.

To me, scenarios add value to my purchase so I am disappointed to read Most Wanted does not include even one. OTOH, does Most Wanted come with anything new to be demonstrated in a scenario?

There's no rulebook or pamphlet included with Most Wanted. In fact, I strongly suspect that's why there's no scenario included: there's nothing to print a scenario on, and they actually don't have any precedent for including just a scenario.

The Aggressor does have a rules insert, and also has a new scenario.

Agreed. It's also more likely they're letting the players handle it for themselves via Mission Command.

Actually, I think the Tantive iv is the only expansion to have a separate scenario book (probably because it has 6 of them in the campaign), all the other scenarios are included in the same page/booklet that the extra rules are on.

That's probably true for custom scenarios, but not the scenarios provided in the rulebooks. And if people are just going to play their own scenarios, it makes sense for FFG to not bother making them but just provide a link to Mission Control instead.

The set comes with only small ships which don't come with inserts. Not single small ships anyway. More odd, there is no mention of the new upgrade types, illicit and Salvaged Astromech. It is the first of all inserts to be only one page. For what people are calling a S&V Core set to have one page is odd.

If the pack had come with ion tokens that would have been enough for a second page. But as it is the Firespray is the only large base insert that might be needed, and you get that with the Firespray already, you only get the cardboard base in the pack.

They would have had to fill both sides of a second page, and they just didn't bother, which is sad.

Yeah. The insert just explains the extra components for repurposing ships, lists all the components, and then has a small rules section. The rules explain that Scum & Villainy is its own separate faction, then explains faction-restricted upgrades, limited upgrades, and modifications and titles. Following that are the maneuver charts for Z-95 Headhunter and Y-wing. Last is the credits.

I actually don't find it odd that the illicit upgrade isn't mentioned. Crew upgrades were introduced with the first large ships and if you look at the Millennium Falcon and Slave I inserts, it doesn't mention those at all. Titles and modifications needed to be defined since there is no icon for it, so people needed to be told you can only have 1 of each per ship. Bombs also had special rules that didn't fit on the card. But Illicit upgrades work just like most other new upgrade types outside the core like crew, turrets, systems, etc.

WOW - I now have a reason to buy IG

Both aces packs and the core set all came with only small ships and all have scenarios. Until now it has been that only SINGLE small ship expansions didn't have scenarios.

I really expected most wanted to have the (more or less) generic 3-way scenario and the aggressor to have a more typical, IG-2000 focused one.

I expected a mission/scenario because it was a boxed set.

I'm very surprised.

I just read the replies, thanks for the thoughts.

Yes, I received a 1 page insert with the content mentioned above. Good news that there is a scenario in the Aggressor as I didn't know that. It also has 4 Illicit Upgrades whereas Most Wanted only has 1, so I will be getting one.

Nevertheless, as it's a big box there was room for a scenario and I find this a really odd way to save money. It's a great box if you have the other 3 ships to repurpose, so why reduce value in this way. They still have to put a rules sheet in there and distribute it, it was a one time cost to add value for every person that bought one, and increase loyalty. Weird.

I've never played one of the scenarios and I've been playing for nearly a year. No one usually bothers getting into one at the local stores and I have no friends who actually want to play the game. :(

Hope the situation improves for you.

Also, this need not have even been a cost. A guest writer from a partner website might have done it it return for exposure, or there could have been a competition, again exposure and increased loyalty. Anyway, I still have a backlog of scenarios and play lots more death match but...that's not the point as I am just one person. I don't recall a survey:)

What part of the world/states are you at? If you are in SoCal you are welcome to come play with us.

I was very surprised. No Missions, No Scenario. FFG, I am very very very disappointed.
