No HLC? No Problem..

With the introduction of ATs, many people think that the Mangler Outrider combo won't be able to push enough dice through to get to those interceptors. To remedy this:

Jan Ors + ICT + Numb (31)

Dash + PTL + Kyle + Outrider + Mangler (51)

Prototype + Chardaan (15)

= 97

Jan Ors will essentially fall in behind or to the side Outrider continually buffing his Mangler cannon to 4 attack dice. Now you get a 4 attack dice turret that can throw crits around. Numb will allow her to keep up decently well and she really only needs to stay at range 3. Not too hard to maintain.

However, I can't decide what I want to spend the last 3 points on. Couple of options include:

Moldy on Ors to give her a bit more defense. Alternatively I can go with Rec Spec. Maybe even HU?

Downgrade to a Bandit or Tala to fit an EU on Dash. A bandit would give me 2 points, while a Tala would be 99 points. However, without the Donuthole I don't think EU is absolutely necessary.

Give Ors an EPT, thinking of predator possibly. Lets her use focus for defense.

I could take a Z-95 with an IPM or other missile. Gives me a bit more control options. But I like the speed and durability of As.

Can't decide which way to go.

With the last 3 points, if you want to modify Jan, consider Moldy Crow instead of Hull Upgrade. I had to think about it for a while, but if you've saved up a few Focus tokens, using more than one on defense (over the course of the game) is worth more than 1 point of Hull. Alternatively, if you have some saved up you can more easily set up TL + F attacks from Jan.

I was about to balk at turret-less Jan, but then I realized what ICT was :P

You know what I really enjoy on Jan? V.I.

eat ****, whisper

Then, if you're so inclined, you could slap an intelligence agent on Dash and just leave that last point floating. Int agents on Yt-2400s are about the most hilarious thing I have seen in a long time, and you may find yourself enjoying it immensely (the little proto-type certainly will).

int agent says "eat ****, whisper"

I don't personally believe you need EU on Yt-2400s because the b-roll is just bonkers excessive by itself, but I've played Dash for about 2 weeks (though one of those weeks has an incredible binge session of trying to make it work for me) and everyone I know flies him with engine, so eh?

For me, the EU on Dash has always been more about arc-dodging than escaping the donut deadzone.

That said, Jan will not find it easy to keep up with him if he's boosting all over the place. Unless she has her own EU. And at that point, you have to drop the third ship, unfortunately.

I could go EU but I'd have to stick with a Bandit. But yeah, a boosting Dash will quickly outrun Jan even if she can do a 4 straight. I think I'll try Moldy on Jan first and slow play it to pick up quite a few focus tokens.

Next I'll drop Kyle, grab a Procket on the A and run with Intel Agent on Dash. If I get that little A within range 1, maybe I can buff him with Ors for a 6 dice attack. Could be nasty.

VI is also a possibility on Ors and I could run a Tactical Jammer on Dash. Try and keep Ors behind Dash so she can benefit from the extra dice.

Thanks for the feedback.

Anyone else find Mangler Cannon's existence a bit dissapointing? Removing the doughnut hole removes what made Outrider interesting.

<-- this guy right here

I really don't like that they removed the only large-based turret that had any form of counter play that wasn't rolling dice, but at the same time being a 2ndary weapon means no moronic range 1 bonus. We'll take what we can get, and Dash players who must hate echo's and whisper's guts get a nice, easy means of disposing of them

Phantoms will still give Dash fits with Mangler. 3 dice vs. their 4, you'll have to get lucky to get consistent hits through. Not impossible though. Soontir will probably be a bigger PITA with ATs.

this is true

but, on the other hand, 3 dice is quite literally infinitely better than none :P

Word... I've had Phantoms get in the donuthole and just never leave.

oh yeah, I can relate. Echo is the reason I gave up playing Dash altogether (that and I just wasn't enjoying the play style, felt unnatural to fire out of arc but not roll more dice at range 1)

had a game against a really good player who just kept echo on my ass the entire game. She wouldn't always get to shoot, but she would hug the doughnut hole and cloak. I tried and tried but literally could not shake her no matter how crafty I was.

So it comes down to this one turn where I finally manage to orchestrate a shot. Echo's miraculous a little injured from Z-95 fire, but VI lets her shoot at dash first. Dash has taken 2 shields of damage the whole game. Echo gets a perfect 3 hits, 1 crit. I blank my greens (so unexpected...). The remaining shields are gone, and the first Dash damage card of the game...munitions failure

Sold my YT-2400 a couple weeks ago to afford scum :P

Not at all.

It will allow me to equip 3 Blue Bs with AdvSen and the Mango Cannon, adding a Z-95 as a filler for just 99pts.

Now my Bs have excellent mobility, increased chance to crit, deny defensive bonus at R3 all the while having full 3 red dice damage potential.

Soo looking forward to this...

I don't think its worth the 4 points on a B-wing though... You could drop all 3 Mangos and run another Z.

SO back to the topic.... If you fly them on the edge put a tactical jammer on Dash gives jan an extra agility most of the time
