Corran's Golden Corral

By Wondergecko, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'm pretty new to list building, but this is something I've wanted to try out when Most Wanted arrives. The thought is to range about with Etahn, targeting for the Ys, and then use his ability to have each Y (ideally) double tap with a pair of crits. Your opponent basically has to choose between engaging the slippery Etahn, or the tanky Golds. Feedback would be much appreciated!

Etahn A'baht (32)

Lone Wolf (2)

Fire-Control System (2)

R2 Astromech (1)

Gold Squadron Pilot (18)

Autoblaster Turret (2)

R2 Astromech (1)

BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)

Gold Squadron Pilot (18)

Autoblaster Turret (2)

R2 Astromech (1)

BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)

Gold Squadron Pilot (18)

Autoblaster Turret (2)

R2 Astromech (1)

BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)

Edit: This list once had Corran, and I derped and forgot to change the name.

I'm not sure I see the point of Etahn in the list. He will make the autoblaster shots get crits which can then be canceled by defensive dice. With autoblasters you want regular hits (booms) because they can't be canceled.

Edit: Also on a side note: why is the list called Corran's Golden Corral but does not include corran?

Derp. Geez -- I had started with Corran, and then tweaked, and forgot about the name. Bwahaha, I should change that. And, thank you -- I don't think I had understood Autoblaster turret very well. Do you think Etahn's worth it just to turn the Y's regular attack to kabooms, and to leave the autoblaster hits as booms?

It might be I'd try it out and see what happens. In my experience, Etahn gets focus fired on really quickly. Maybe swap out his Lone wolf and FCS for PTL so you can turtle up with him. I think lone wolf should really only be considered in 2 or 3 ship builds plus if you're trying to get mileage out of it you'll have less chance of your y's getting any benefit from him. But try it out and see what works for you. I've seen z's x's and b's do fun things with Etahn so maybe y's will work out.

Duly noted, sir. Time to get some games in and **** around. Thanks for the help!

No problem :) Let us know how it turns out.

P.S. If you end up using this list a lot I think you should still call it Corran's Golden Corral just to confuse the crap out of people :P

If you are wanting to run BTLs with autoblasters, I woulddrop Etah and fly a fourth gold all with EU added, you'll keep things in arc much better especially at range 1

I was considering doing this as a Scum list, with Unhinged Astromech. Y-wings with boosters strapped on zipping around the board would be pretttttty lulzy.

I never realized how brutal Etahn could be with BTL Y-wings. Potentially dealing a crit with each of their two attacks.

Unfortunately, the Ion Cannon Turret cancels your crits results, and the Autoblaster Turret wants regular hits.

That leaves only the poor Blaster Turret and all of it's inconveniences. Scum has access to the R4 Agromech, but they don't have access to Etahn...

A conundrum...
