Tabletop Day: X-wing Promo Cards

By stmack, in X-Wing

Yes, Nova Squadron was the elite cadet squadron at Starfleet Academy that Wesley belonged to in "The First Duty." They try to do a dangerous, banned maneuver, get someone killed, then try to cover it up. Which, now that I think about it, could have all kinds of mechanics based around doing red maneuvers in X-Wing...

Like, "After you perform a red maneuver, you do not gain stress. Gain two stress at the start of the next turn's Activation Phase." Or, "You may ignore gaining stress from a red maneuver by taking one damage."

I had never heard of this game before Mr. Wheaton's show.

I had never heard of Mr. Wheaton's show before this game.

I don't think I ever heard of this dude before this game. I'm guessing he's an old actor or something?

I could just look him up but...meh.

If you don't know Wesley Crusher, you fail at sci-fi.

Not seeing anywhere that they are or aren't new promo cards. Just that the kit contains 8 cards...

He was the geeky cadet in Star Trek: the Next Generation. He was widely despised by most. In his 30's he came out on the fringes of various things. I think it started as a blogger. He has since done cameos in tv shows likek Eureka and such. He has a You Tube channel to show board games. Most people like him these days since he came back into the picture.

In the pdf it says the blue coloured ones are exclusives, and the X-wing cards aren't marked in blue. That said it might not mean they're necessarily old, but it means they'll be able to be gotten elsewhere.

We are in a X-Wing forum, not Star Trek........(not that I don't know who he is)

I see, since it's not color coded in blue then it means it's not exclusive to this promotion. I didn't notice that before. Too bad they don't give any examples. Will be interesting to see what the 8 cards are.

While that's true, Sithborg's still not wrong.

His character was widely despised, there is a difference.

Right now, his show Tabletop is responsible for reaching huge audiences and selling tens of thousands of extra copies of the featured games. Considering most games get printed in runs of what, 5000, that is huge.
