So I noticed there's 8 X-wing promo cards in the Tabletop Day kit this year! Eight isn't very many, so wondering whether or not they'll be new ones/exclusives? Any thoughts?

Is that one big promo kit with all that stuff together?
Technically 2 big promo kits. There's a $250 and $600 level. Oh if I were rich...
I wonder what kind of cards they might be?

Or they could be really subtle and have it be a Nova Squadron Pilot. ![]()

Good God they butchered the rules on his show.

and yet it was still a great introduction to the game...

I hate to admit this, but I think you may have gone too subtle for me. Was this a throwback to Red Squad at Starfleet Academy?

ha ha! Every time I've re-watched that I can't tell you how many things they did wrong that infuriate me, but the king of the list was Claire "Boosting" by simply adding the 1 template to the end of her other template.... Oh the Humanity! Still, and I have to be fair here.... That show WAS responsible for my initial infatuation with X-Wing. It singlehandedly made me fall in love with the game, so I have to give it a ton of credit.
I had never heard of this game before Mr. Wheaton's show. I would guess that a decent-ish percentage of the playing community could say the same. I will have to check but I'm guessing my FLGS will be holding a tabletop day celebration this year. Promo X-wing cards will draw me in for sure.
Crab, I beieve in that episode to ST:TNG with the training accident & cover up, the flight squadron was called Nova Squadron.
I doubt my store will be ordering it at that price. Most the games aren't even played at the store.

Ahh that would make sense. I've watched DS9 so many times that I'm getting the names confused then.

I'm sure my store will have one. But I'm not too interested in anything with Wil Wheaton's face on it.

No it's a reference to their group in DC. They make a podcast, so they need a cute name and to shamelessly self-promote like crazy.

But while we're at it: You should listen to NovaSquadronRadio, Download Cryodex, Upload to ListJuggler, and watch Outer Rim Smugglers!

It's just meant to be an excuse to run an event where people get together and play tabletop games. The local one had at least 100 people at it last year, was basically a mini convention.

Some info from over on reddit, looks like they aren't exclusive cards so they likely are reprints of old ones:

last year the kits were $50 for the normal and $360 for the premium kits (cost to stores)
They are currently ~$125 for the normal kit and $300 for the premium kit for 2015 (cost to stores)
Both kits will contain 8 x-wing promo cards.

I don't think I ever heard of this dude before this game. I'm guessing he's an old actor or something?
I could just look him up but...meh.
Yes, Nova Squadron was the elite cadet squadron at Starfleet Academy that Wesley belonged to in "The First Duty." They try to do a dangerous, banned maneuver, get someone killed, then try to cover it up. Which, now that I think about it, could have all kinds of mechanics based around doing red maneuvers in X-Wing...

And the card art will be a tie fighter squadron doing a culvert starburst.
