HELP!
I've had a killer toothache for the last 36 hours and
I might be dying!
(Master of hyperbole)
Gimme some suggestions to get me through class tomorrow!
So far I'm getting by on salt water, limes, and rum, which wouldn't exactly be class appropriate as I don't own a flask
Home remedies!
Teething Gel, for babies, it numbs the gums and relives the pain. Should be able to buy anywhere 24hr convenience store!
probably a bit late but clove oil does wonders for toothaches. most drug stores etc should carry it

Not late at all; still barely clinging to life. Never have I wanted to yank a tooth out so badly. If only I were a shark...

Don't you have any painkillers in the house?
Limes and rum... **** thats badass and now i'm thirsty. Don't worry about not having a flask, just bring enough for the entire class.
Or you could always do it like in Castaway: Get an ice skate and a rock and bash that tooth out.
Sorry that i don't have any better advice, Maybe an icepack will help numb your jaw? That oil of cloves should work tough. And maybe you can get out of class if your teacher is nice and sends you to the nurses office.

Painkillers haven't done any good. Pulling it (or the Castaway's equivalent) doesn't seem like such a great idea...permanent tooth and all that.
Had a bad tootache once while watching one of those underworld movies (the one with the medieval werewolves i think.)
I somehow managed to zone out so i didn't feel anything, but i have no idea how to do it.
Hope the pain goes away soon.
Once you, you know, get through class... it might warrant a trip to the dentist.
A toothache is normally a sign of much deeper disasters going on deep within the tooth. If you go to a dentist, they'll likely have two solutions:
- root canal, which may alleviate the pain, but may not solve the problem, and cost a small fortune. And the issue may still resurface later on.
- extraction, which will leave you with much more manageable pain for a day or two and no more dramas later on.
The only problem with extraction is whether or not it's in the middle of your smile and going to look really bad. If it's a molar, I'd just get it pulled. It's hard to see the gap when it's gone.

Weeee.
Looks like it's either an infection in one tooth, or my wisdom tooth is finally causing problems and pushing up against the one next to it. They're leaning towards the latter, fortunately, because root canal seems extremely painful. Not that having a tooth pulled is great either, but...at least it's a normal thing adults usually go through? Or that's what I tell myself to make myself feel better.
Oddly enough, I never grew wisdom teeth on my bottom row. Nifty. Evolution!

I'd look for a new dentist, the one my family and I use will always try to fit someone who's in pain, in somewhere, even if means bumping around a few peoples appointment.
If that can't happen... I once got a prescription for hydrocodone for a really bad toothache from the ER. Only a few pills, just enough to get me by until I could get to the dentist.
Hydrocodone for a toothache may seem a bit much but I couldn't sleep and over the counter stuff didn't help in the least... But not quite as much overkill as the time I took morphine for a headache. Although in my defense I didn't know what the guy was giving me, was in the Army and a buddy gave me something for the headache I was complaining about... Going drinking that night was however very much my own fault.

That was a bit of an oversimplification, I guess. They did quite a bit to try and figure it out, even gave me a more expensive panoramic x-ray free of charge. I just wish there was more they could do. At the very least, it'd be nice to know for sure what was wrong.
Hydrocodone is exactly what they gave me. Doesn't seem to be doing much, sadly. Constantly drinking water seems to alleviate it a bit, but I can't go more than 30 seconds without a drink. Makes sleep difficult.

Like my dad sais:
"Three ways of doing things: "The Good way, The Bad way, and the Army way"
I had a toothache so bad that I ended up in the ER. Unfortunately, it was 7:00pm on Christmas Eve and every dentist in town was on holiday for two weeks, including the hospital's on-call dentist. They shot me up on some morphine, which I had a weird reaction to. The morphine did absolutely nothing for the pain and just made my head pound even more. For the life of me I can't understand why people do that stuff as a recreational drug. Then they tried tramadol, which took the edge off and then they gave me a big dose of anti-biotics intravenously. I left the hospital about four hours later, still in pain, but not as bad and with a fistful of painkillers. I can't remember much of that Christmas after that.
Banana, if its a wisdom tooth, just get it pulled. You're not going to notice it or miss it, but you will enjoy the sudden lack of pain when it's gone.
Definitely get it out asap if it is a wsdom tooth I had occasional problems with my wisdom teeth (showing a remarkable lack of wisdom in neglecting them *L*).Then suddenly they were no longer occasional and the pain was so bad that i could not function. Went to the emergency room and had 7 impacted back teeth taken out at the same time. That was no fun but the almost immediate lack of pain was amazing

I have heard of this happening. Occasionaly someones body will react diferently to painkillers and they end up halucinating instead of having their pain reduced. **** thats some xmass....
That's the thing though. I wasn't hallucinating at all. The morphine just didn't do anything other than make my head feel like it was about to explode. As for Christmas, I popped a couple of the painkillers, and went for a quiet lie down, only to wake four hours later in pain again. Pop another couple of painkillers and sleep for another four hours. Went on like that for a couple of days with a total awake time of about 3 hours. Slept the rest of it.
Just wanna throw out a big thanks to everyone here. This crap cannot end soon enough. Gonna spend all weekend playing X-wing in an attempt to keep my mind off the ache, and with Scum arriving tomorrow, I should have lots of work to do updating my squad-building app.
I'm hoping it's just the wisdom tooth. Getting it pulled is no big deal, I just want the pain to stop. If the tooth is infected (their other guess) then that means root canal, which...sounds painful.
On an interesting note, the x-rays revealed that I have no lower wisdom teeth. They just decided to never exist. Evolution!
If the tooth is infected, just get it pulled. It's far easier than a root canal and I can guarantee you from personal experience it will solve the problem. And it's not as painful as a root canal either.

That's what I've heard. My mother did the same thing

Looks like that's the best option. And look at it this way: So what if it hurts? You are already in pain. It's not gonna get worse. (Unless your dentist is Ramsey Bolton) Best to get it over with.
Have fun with scum and villany!

Happened to a friend of mine, he pulled something and they gave him some muscle relaxers. He started having hallucinations in the middle of a middle of a fencing team meeting. The team captain turned into an eagle and perched on the back of the chair.
Which is an odd thing for a fencing team captain to do. Thing was he had no idea what was going on, and just started to freak out. So they took him back to his room, but on the way he couldn't see doors so he saw all these people walking through the walls...

That's....definitely interesting. Sounds like quite the experience. If I hallucinate anything awesome, I'll let ya guys know

Indeed. I can't imagine anything making this worse. Just shoot my gums up full of magical numbing stuff and rip the sucker out. Though, I'm not sure who Ramsey Bolton is...
THAT'S his name! Alright, yeah, I know him...Ugh. Can't even imagine the horrors he went through. And then the thing with his wang...
