Order of Kellos Expansion Complete

By Acolyte Rivan, in Descent Home Brews

Beginning to compile questions for a second FAQ. If you have any, please e-mail me here .

Fantasy Flight Games has asked me to remove the links to the tileset files and the card images file. I have also removed the link to the 72 dpi tile scans. More may follow.

That's unfortunate; I noticed the threads about it on this forum had disappeared. Did they give a reason? You said in this thread back in February that you were given official permission to host at least some of this stuff, so if you followed the terms and they didn't give you a reason they want it gone now, you might want to ask further; could possibly be a case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing.

Or this could mean that we're finally getting an updated official editor, but I'm not holding my breath.

I removed the 72 dpi tile scans myself. The other links were removed as per FFG's wishes. FFG asked me to e-mail them and they will decide what content can stay beyond that.

From looking at that other post, it seems you didn't violate anything they asked of you back in February. Probably just a lack of communication on their end. Good luck with with the emailing, perhaps they could even adopt your tileset for official use, it looks great, only thing I can't figure out is placing an already activated glyph, but that's no big deal.

TileSystem has a concept of "flippable" tiles. Somewhere in there is a command for flipping a tile to its reverse side.

Also, when you drag a tile from the palette onto the map, it'll start on whichever side you clicked on when you started the drag.

The flip side of pieces seems to work fine for all the dungeon tiles, and it almost seems that the glyph has a similar flip side too in the system, except that it;s flip side appears to be a tiny discolored square in the bottom left of it's grid space. So I can drag that out instead, but it doesn't look like anything. And if there's some key command to flip it to the activated side, I didn't see it in any menus or in the directions on screen.

Not a major issue, as you usually only have one per level, and it's not too hard to use another way to specify it, but it would be nice to get working.

There is a way to fix it. If you open the descent_Misc.set file, just change the reference from descent to descent_WART for the active and inactive glyphs and it will start working.

I went looking for the thread about the Map Generator that was posted here, and it seems to have been removed for the forum mods.

After much discussion, I have modified a couple of cards; The Oubliette dungeon card, to try to clarify moving the boulder; and the Chalice of Purity card, to reflect its increased powers.

You can download the dungeon card here: Modified Oubliette or Modified Oubliette

Or the complete file of up-to-date Dungeon cards: here or here

Thanks, it worked! Compared it against the bed/table dual, because I know that works, to make sure I didn't screw it up :)

Perhaps I'll try my hand at custom levels now, as this will make it a bit easier to do so.

I knew I would miss one happy.gif

FileDen had an Epic Fail in regards to my account, losing all of my uploaded files. The 4shared files are still available (the right hand links on the Download page) for anyone who remains interested in the Order of Kellos. As for the other files, I will begin the process of uploading replacements soon.

The links on the Downloads page have been corrected.

Acolyte Rivan, impressive work as always. Keep working on it ! Thanks.

Acolyte Rivan, 2 questions about the Eternal Fire:

1) The rules say it have Burn 2, the card says Burn, the FAQ says nothing: which is right ?

2) The rules says that after the attack it is destroyed, but it is not explicitly written on the card. Which is right ?

Thanks.

The card should read Burn2 . I'll work on an erratta'd card when I can. The Fire is destroyed after the attack, but it can be revived after waiting for all of the wound tokens to be removed.

Wow, I just downloaded the rules and gave them a quick read through and I have to say I'm very, very impressed. You sir have managed to put together an impressive expansion, I swear it looks every bit as nice as one from FFG themselves (and I'd bet you even better balancededited :D )! I think I will definitely be downloading the rest of it soon. Thanks a lot to you and whoever else put all that hard work into such a fine project. Any suggestions for having it printed out and made as professionally as possible? I assume a home printer is out of the question, but maybe it could in small batches? Any suggestions would be great, thanks again for all your hard work.

Ah, just downloaded the "read me first" file.....maybe I should've done that before asking questions, lol. Had a lot of helpful tips for printing it out, thanks!

I have sleeved all of my Descent:OOK cards and it works quite well. The cards themselves were printed out on 110 pound cardstock.

Only suggestion I can make is to re-organize the cards into one .pdf that uses 4 or 5 rows of cards with matching backs. These have roughly 80% deadspace and if you are going to the local printer to print it on cardstock it will cost you that much more.

Look at Gelatinous Cube's Descent Quest to see what I mean on the cards.

Everything else looks really nice!

Hey, I just downloaded your DOOK expansion a little while ago, great stuff by the way. Thanks a ton for making it, looks really well-written and balanced from what I can tell without playing it first. My friends and I are really looking forward to giving it a try. Two questions I wanted to get answered that I didn't see in the FAQ before we started playing though.

Campaign Play: The rulebook states that Order members only get 1 Prayer a week and cannot use their Heal ability during campaign. That is also the descriptor on the First Card of the Heresy Plot for the Road to Legend Campaign. Does this mean this only occurs if the Overlord is playing the Heresy plot, and they may use their prayer twice a week and unlimited Heals if the OL uses a different plot? Or is this just a reiteration of the rules because the game hasn't been balanced ested for use with other plots? Also when it says that Order members are prevented from recieving any healing outside of their own Prayer ability, does this include visiting Temples or taking Recouperate actions in the wild during a campaign? I assume no healing means no healing, but just wanted to make sure. Was just kinda curious.

Focus Items: The rulebook states that a hero may use a "Focus" half action to charge up the Focus weapons. This seems to be identical to a Prolonged Action Order, yet its called a "Focus" half-action. Is this so that you can "Focus" your weapon without declaring a Ready action and using a Prolonged Action Order? If so, can a hero take a "Focus" half-action, no matter what his declared action is (thereby doing away with part of whatever his declared action was)?

The rulebook also says "Only one half-action may be performed before the hero must attack." Does this mean the hero can "Focus" the weapon, then do a half-action (such as moving his speed), and then make the Focused attack with the weapon (quite possibly on his next turn)? Or does "Focusing" the half-action itself count as the half-action performed before the attack?

Any response to these questions would be really appreciated, my friends and I really like the look of your expansion and wanted to say thanks for all the work that went into it! We're really looking forward to giving it a try (probably once we finish our SoB campaign or maybe as a break from that)!

The Order members cannot be healed in the Temple during Restock / Visit / Recuperate (recuperating in the wild doesn´t heal any hero, by the way, this is only sensible in a city) - unless Acolyte Rivan makes that an exception.

As for the Healing ability in the campaign, we were discussing to let the Order members keep it. My hero group said "no way" to the OOK expansion, when I told them that one of their key Order abilities was taken away from them in the campaign.

The Focus weapons are still kind of an issue. My understanding of the rules was that you had to Focus - Attack as your two half-actions in the same turn to make any use of them (rendering them to be of pretty situational use).

I think this was to be addressed in the next OOK FAQ version, unfortunately it has not been released yet.

My group hasn't ever played that way (although I think there's only been once or twice where it has come up). I have always let the heroes recouperate in the wild for 50 coins since the rules under the RecouperateTrain action didn't say that it had to take place in a city. It only said that Training had to. Which led me to believe it was called a Recouperate action if it was in the wild, and a Train action if it was in a city. Now looking at the way temples work though I have to agree you are right. It just doesn't make any sense to have the temples Train circumstance be the exact same thing any hero could do anywhere in the wild. Oh well, it isn't like it came up that often, I just don't understand why they didn't state Recouperate had to be done in a city (unless its in the FAQ and I missed it).

As to the rest, yeah I think we'll just have to wait for Acolyte Rivan to update a FAQ sometime :) . By the RAW of the rules though, I'm still a little confused about Focus weapons.
