So i was wanting to know is, when playing what is a normal tournament point span? Also while playing casually, is it normal to play more then a 100 point game?

Most tournaments are 100 points. Store championships, regionals, that sort of thing.

Occasionally, a store will have an escalation tournament or epic tournament with different point limitations.

For casual play, you can do whatever you want. The core set has examples with fewer points. Several scenarios have different points for the different sides. It can be fun to experiment at different point levels as sometimes you really wish you just had an extra point or two to fly the squad that you came up with and then realized was 101 points.
