Wave 6 Unboxing and Review videos are up

By Crabbok, in X-Wing

This is the first time I was able to watch the un-boxing videos after I opened the boxes.

Great stuff Crabs... you done good, and it is cool to see these videos as we wait for our goodies in the coming week!!!

:D

Leave the **** wings on the Star Viper alone... you crazy rascal you!

Let's say Kath has Calculation and Rec Spec - she fires Range 1 from behind - 5 dice.

She has 2 focus from Rec Spec.

If she rolls 1 focus - you use Calculation.

if she rolls 2+ focus - you can decide: do I use 1 for calculation and 1 for turning the remaining eyes into hits, or do I save the 2nd focus for defense.

It is situational but there are absolutely times you'll want to use both tokens on the attack to maximize your damage but also get the benefit of a crit.

I certainly agree with you there, therefore it stands to reason that each opportunity is "once per token." You can also spend multiple tokens to no effect. No rule preventing it. So, pending FAQ, I'd have to assume multiple focii can become multiple criticals.

I agree, just like how you can't spend multiple stress with Keyan Farlander.

I think the thing you are missing with Genius is Boost - drop a seismic after you move, then boost away...

He explained that in the video. Still that is 4 points plus the action plus the one time use bomb. Still genius with proxy mines is pure genius.

FYI, Genius has no effect on proximity mines. It is an action after your maneuver anyways.

Got paid today and of course ordered my SCUM!!!

Say Crabs Brother... I was going to get twelve seekies, but after your cool videos I chilled a bit and got eight with another Y-Wing and a third Star Viper.

Thanks for helping me make a better initial purchase.

One thought with Calculation...

you can use the focus AND Calculation on the same turn. So take your scenario where you roll 3 eyeballs. You can turn 1 to a crit with calculation then all the rest to regular hits with your focus.

One of the first builds I want to try is (Imperial) Kath with Calc and Rec Spec (probably with Fel and a Doomshuttle).

I agree - that's going to be pretty good. Calculation, at 1 point, offers a lot more flexibility when paired with Rec Spec.

Also realized something else when I watched a Batrep I found today. If you have multiple focus tokens, you can use it to convert multiple crits.

Unfortunately you can only use it once. It's in the FAQ - I forget exactly where, but it says you can only use a card once per activation or something like that. In this case, it's the "When attacking.... do X". You can't go back and do it again with another crit, any more than you can go back and re-roll additional dice with Predator (Vs PS 3 or higher naturally).

If it were "once per token" then that would be the same as predator being "Once per Die", and that would be insanity. Then Darth Vader would also be able to just assign like 6 crits at once too

You know, I was half expecting you to have green skin after seeing your forum avatar! Nice vids though :)

Yes yes I know the once per opportunity rule. I brought it up because I saw it on a Batrep on YouTube here, meaning they were likely breaking the rules when they played it this way. Or I misunderstood what was happening, which is also certainly possible.

Great series - nice to see the Spicer Runner and I agree - the Viper paint job is underwhelming. It has volunteered itself to be my first lab rat for honing my paint skills. Now - what to do? I think a minimalist trim with a bright colour perhaps.

Having seen your other ships for S&V, I could see the star viper in reds even a mean paint job of flames or the ole toothy mouth and eye!
