So far so good (For those who have been following my recent woes)

By RebelDave, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Well tonight went well.

Spoilders Below for Trouble Brewing.

They found poor old J8-B4 in the compactor... got some info out of him... aaaaand took him back to the ship to put in the "Dead Droid Pile" (This currently includes the bits that were already on the ship, the remains of Teemos protocol droid and possibly the ships Droid PC Pilot (Player absent, character has decided he only has a few minutes to live, and turns himself off to save as many as he can... Name THAT Reference!).

(Don't have a huge issue with this thankfully! The bits are pretty much scrap, as was the other from Teemos - it will be a while before they can even remotely think about building their own droid)

Then they hit the Rii Jenks Cantina, and after alot of false starts, finally got some info out of the bartender, before the Info Broker sold them the information about Bandin (They didn't even haggle.... which really surprised me, and I wouldn't have minded if they did... seems they felt 50 creds was a fair price!)

Then Daro and Spir arrive, and Spir starts hitting on Zukata. Our Selonian and the Doc Twilek (both female) go to the rescue, after some gruff talk, the Selonian Combat Monster takes a swing at him... and misses (Unarmed).

He swings back and misses.

The Doctor takes a swing and puts him out cold. (Off an Advantage Crit I believe, using a Boost from the Selonian - 5 Advantage).

The Weequay weighs in now, and a few blows are traded, but eventually the Selonian threatens him, and he backs down, taking Spir with him. (Our Rodian Scoundrel decides to follow them.... a few stealth checks and a follow train talent later, he trails them to their hideout... I was trying to avoid that, but he passed his rolls... so.. ok... )

Meanwhile...

The other 3 (Now regrouped with the Drall Mechanic, who just watched the fight (He and the heroic Rodian just let the girls do the fighting!), quiz Zukata, and get the info they need from her (Thet took some nudging, these guys couldnt interrogate a loaf of bread).

They spot the Toydarian, and follow him, but fluff their Stealth checks, they quiz him (They think he wanted to talk, and they totally didnt get his subversive nature), and off he goes (He claimed he didnt know the thugs personally of course).

So the Rodian gives them a shout on the comlink, Ive followed them to this warehouse, come meet me

And thats where I hit the To Be Continued button.

Now I have a couple options depending what they do.

If they leave enough time, they will see the Toydarian arrive, and possibly overhear the conversation, then see the Gang leave to ambush them. What they do after that, I dont know.

Or they might try and storm the place, which I expect them to scout out first, if they succeed in that, they will find the gang outnumber them 2 to 1.

If they fluff it, the ambush will happen right outside the warehouse, in the same way its written in the book.

They have not really HAD a chance to loot anything yet, as noones died.

And they did specify they were dealing Strain damage in the bar but in all honesty, thats not TOO suprising.

So perhaps its too early to tell.

The only loot they got was the droid remains, which I have no issues with. (And honestly, I may have done the same).

SO. Yeah, not much to report, except the Combat Monster (Selonian Marauder, with some nasty talents and evil in Melee with her Glaive was out boxed by the Doctor go figure!)

Tune in next week!

And thanks for the advice guys!

(And good job on turning your situation around. . . . )

Well done Desslok. Yes, I saw that episode and figured it worked well enough :P (It also played the the players mentality)

Well good start so far. At least they didn't try stealing from the unconscious guy in the bar. That's an improvement.

I'll give you a comparison for what the party did in my campaign. They "put the droid out of its misery" and then triggered the compactor. "It's what he would have wanted." In the cantina, they bought some information before. One player, a droid, walked up and one shot punched Spir and scared the gang away. Zukata was thankful and told them stuff. The party was eventually ambushed after a bunch of faffing about. They killed everyone and hid the bodies. Including the Toydarian. "We really don't want anyone tipping off Bandin." I couldn't fault them with that logic. Besides, at least they hid the bodies as opposed to leaving them in the street. They looted what they deemed worthwhile from the warehouse, then burned it down. The party has a real problem with arson.

Interesting point: your party will come across J8-B4's friend. If memory serves, it will want to join the party for some revenge. It might be a funny situation for the astromech to find its dead friend on the party's droid pile. How do you think you will play that out? Assuming they don't remove the droid.

We caught the bar on fire in our game. Don't ask how. (There's a reason our ship is named "The Flaming Canina")

Trouble Brewing has some social aspects to it, but there are only a few ways to deal with Dobah's gang on Formos. It sounds like you guys had fun. so I'm happy for you. When I ran this online for some buddies, it was a second mission. They attempted to fence some gear that they acquired on a previous mission. When the checks resulted in some threats, I decided to have a pair of thugs tail the group and attempt to steal from them after the deal (unrelated to the fence). The wookie combat monster with the Ryk blade went wild and completely gutted the guys in an alley. They could have just run them off, but it was fun and in character. I did enjoy making him feel guilty about it though. Afterword, whenever they asked what was going on in the area (like with the lady selling water), I would tell them "there is a derranged madman on the loose, disembowelling people with a huge knife, so keep your kids indoors!"

Good point!

@ Darth Ferrum.

I like this idea!

I am not sure how the party will deal with the Astromech

They may try slapping a restraining bolt on it, which I have been giving some thought

As a free droid, if they want to to join the party, It WILL be demanding a cut of any payments they get where they used it help.

I am giving serious thought to it taking anything of use from its old friend, its in hopes i tmight be able to 'save' him in another body.

And if push comes to shove, my absent player (Droid PC pilot), will come to the rescue and stir things up abit!

If they get creative, they might try to put the droid's brain into the ship like one of the droid brain upgrades from Fly Casual. Would create some incentive for the astromech to stick around, too. But definitely, make sure the droid demands payment. If they protest, point out the price of an actual astromech. Assuming the droid doesn't demand too much of a cut, they might not complain all that much. Try to give it a personality they love, as well. They might be less likely to coerce or give it a memory wipe.
