For all you CCG guys

By Forest Spider, in CoC Rules Discussion

Since I never saw the CCG version of the game, I would like to ask a question of those of you that know both the CCG and LCG

Are these monthly packs we are getting just subsets of the old game? If so, are they identical?

Thanks

No.

CCG cards were in boosters, with 11 (or 15, correct me) cards in each, including one rare, 3 uncommons, and rest commons.

Each expansion consisted of 1 "main" expansion (350 cards, more or less), plus 2 smaller expansions (150 cards)

The third expansion, if I recall, should have been dreamlands, so the next APs will (perhaps) contain cards from that...

Hope that helps :)

In additional response, I don't recall any of the cards in the asylum decks being reprints of the old CCG cards. Everything in the Asylum pack boosters are new.

However, the Core Set cards are ALL reprints from the CCG (minus the Conspiracy card). Mostly ones that truly were key to their factions play and/or really showed what each faction specialized in. Some of the cards in the Core Set have had their text changed to cover their errata, the art for Trigger Man was changed (to art from a different card from in the CCG: Bring it Upstairs?)... and most awesome Cthulhu lost the Loyal keyword.

And Steve Clarney changed teams from Miskatonic to Agency.

torch the joint is a reprint from 1 of the black-bordered asylum packs (the second one if I recall properly). Although the cost was 3 then, and now i is 2.

:)

I'm new as well and I'd like to tac on to this question.

Can you play CCG cards with LCG cards?

I'd like to get some rare cards from the CCG Boosters, such as Elderich etc., but not if they won't work together.

yes you can (use opaque sleeves then, because the card back is different).

However, FFG only supports white only lcg format (even prohibiting older player from using older versions of reprinted cards on gencon, if I recall properly).

In Poland where I come from, we use mixed format, with 3 of rule, meanig every card (unless banned) can be put in your deck.

hope this helps :)
