Miss Iceheart, how can I (keep) forget(ting) you?

So,

Ysanne...

With a few ACD Cloak exceptions, I almost always remember all my actions and triggers.

This lovely gal is proving to be a real challenge to remember, as I am recently forgetting to use her about half the time due to the "odd" time-window in which you get to use her ability.

I've had the greatest luck remembering her when she was coupled with Engine Upgrade and PtL (I guess my mind works better with relations than timing and timers!).

Luckily I've yet to lose a fight because of it but, it often makes the difference between ending the game on 1-2 hull, as opposed to 5-6.

The thing is, I always notice after the dice are rolled in the Combat Phase, but not before.

I've tried:

-holding the evade token in my hand

-placing it after taking my normal action, which is OK for casual play, but not at events

-placing it on the back of my hand

-sticking it in my eye (for gits and shiggles  )

-placing it on my dice "stack", so it falls off when I am about to pick them up (start of Combat Phase)

Got any tips for this befuddled Iceheart fan, to help me remember her trigger?

Pretend you use Swarm Tactics... for whatever reason people never forget Swarm Tactics.. grml.. :)
Same time window tho...

Carry a cig lighter and everytime you forget burn yourself slightly... you'll remember after the first few times :D

You haven't tried the Isard Alarm App? It's great - I downloaded it and it simply keeps track of everything. I haven't forgotten about her even once after I started using it. I'm surprised so few people use this app; it's right there on the app store.

:)

Seriously though, I also fail completely at remembering her trigger.

If you have an acrylic evade token place it on the base face down and after everyone moves go ahead and flip it face up.

Good suggestions (except for the app haha),

If you have an acrylic evade token place it on the base face down and after everyone moves go ahead and flip it face up.

I'd say that is a good idea but it can be a bit borderline, and I will likely forget to flip it anyway. :)

Print out a big picture of Isard and use it as a cape or flag banner for your decimator. You'll never forget again

after the ship with ysane has activated just put the evade token on the ship? (unless stressed) the ships i'm using her on are usually the last to activate anyway

Play against me. I don't care if you forget. Free evade each turn as long as you weren't stressed. :P

Isard is pretty easy to remember as the VT-49 has no defense and I usually throw her on every Decimator build I make. The one I am always forgetting is Mara. She kicks in during in even stranger time to be putting tokens on ships. Usually at the end of the combat phase you are pulling tokens off ships.

I forgot Mara for an entire game one time. Looking back on it, I could have used her at least 4-5 times.

Get a miniature of her and make her stand atop the decimator (or better yet, the first ship to shoot)

Or, if you have a really big printer, print out a 3x3 sheet that says "DON'T FORGET YSANNE" in space, and play on that

A really good idea would be to (if you have one) a label printer, just type Ysanne on the label and slap it on the front of your decimator dial

Now that one I love!

Place the evade every turn. Force your opponent to remember that you have to remove it :P

One thing i used to do when I started playing tourneys for warmachine/hordes is i wrote "dark sentential" in black marker very large on the top of one of my hands.

I've been playing with Roark Garnett and having similar problems.

The problem is that the last ship to activate will be the first ship to fire. If it's my opponents, they tend to to flow from one right to the other. I have to remember to interrupt them to trigger my effect.

A guy at the last tourny I went to put the evade token on his dial. Pretty hard to forget then.

Nobody has a problem saying, "Back to dials?" or "Planning again, right?" But people rarely make an effort to declare the beginning of the Combat phase. So I have started doing that very thing. Once the last ship has performed an action, I say, "So, Combat Phase" outloud, and it helps both myself and my opponent to remember key triggers.

I tried holding the Evade token in my hand, and it made a huge difference. But since I started declaring the Combat Phase I haven't forgotten once.

EDIT: I do the same thing for the End Phase, too. It just feels more fair to declare those distinctions.

Tape her card on top of the Decimator. That way you'll always see her icy stare at you...

Take one of those ad holders and put "We must declare start of combat phase" with a picture of Ysanne underneath. Then, put said holder between you and your opponent, forcing him to look at it as well. Make your opponent work for you, that way he cannot rush through the steps (intentionnally or not).

In my case, I have a custom icon that I'll start to use next to my focus / evade, etc, to signifity the presence of my rebel captive. I never forget to check for evade or focus before I roll, so this should help me remind my opponent to take a stress (they always forget during tourneys for some reason, even if I called them in on it 5 times in a row).

Take two small pieces of scrap paper, write YSANNE on both of them in big bold sharpie letters, keep one next to your Decimator at all times, and keep one on top of your dice at all times along with a bunch of evade tokens.
