Help Me Choose My X&Z Rebel Swarm List

By voidstate, in X-Wing Squad Lists

In my ongoing quest to represent the X-Wing (and his awesome side-kick, the Z-95) at tournaments, help me choose which X&Z combo to take on Saturday. A few weeks ago I came very close to winning with an XXZZZZ swarm and want to try again. However, I think there are better combos than I took last time (Biggs + R3-A2, Tarn +R7, Bandit x 4).

Which of these would you be most scared of facing?

Wes & Wedge XXZZZ

(Wes attacks, strips defence; Wedge gets to definitely use Opportunist, Zs clean up. Wedge acts like Biggs because everyone tries to shoot him first anyway, so the Zs can go in first and hopefully get R1 shots.)

Biggs, Garven & Rookie XXXZZ

Biggs hangs back forcing range 3 shots, possibly with 2 focus tokens (the extra from Garven). The other ships are free to take TLs because they won't be fired upon, and next turn maybe fire with TL & focus (made easier with Garven). R3-A2 makes one enemy more predictable meaning I can stay in formation and concentrate fire.

Biggs & Rookie XXZZZZ

Similar to above but drop Garven to fit another 2 Bandits in. Better against low agility targets and more ships to clog the board up with. Might take R4-D6 and Hull Upgrade off Biggs to make the Zs into Talas. If Biggs is going to die, it's silly to give your opponent extra MoV.

Thanks

Last one because of sheer numbers. It will be interesting to see how it fares against autothrusters and such once S&V takes hold, but that list should punch through big ship and two ship lists

Why not a Y?

-----

Biggs Darklighter — X-Wing 25
R7 Astromech 2

Gold Squadron Pilot — Y-Wing 18
Ion Cannon Turret 5
R3-A2 2
BTL-A4 Y-Wing 0

Bandit Squadron Pilot — Z-95 Headhunter (x4)

Total: 100

A Warthog Y-Wing would add a strong control element through Ion and Stress. R3-A2 is a "may" activate so if there is no need to double stress itself. Another thing is that a BTL-A4 is not required to attack the same target. So if you want to stress 2 different ships you can.

Y's and X's have the same dial options.

The Y is just a little Rusted around the top.

And the X is a little more Eco friendly.

Edit:

Also of the 3 listed I'd probably have the most worry about Wes + Wedge +3Zs. Even without Opportunist on Wedge the list is quite fearsome. The volume of fire against an unmodified defense.
