Tattoine

By shotbyscott, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hi this is my first post so forgive me if it is in the worong forum....

Im planning a 100 Point game set on Tattoine with 2 objectives. I have from "De Agostini" Jabas sail barg and the Jawa Sandcrawler, that are close enough to the 1:270th scale of x-wing I though I would use them. Here is a Basic over view and woud love some feed back and help

Objective 1

Jaba barge (will use something like a shuttel for the stats) starts on one side of the game met with a "rebel captive" that they want to drop into a Sarlacc hole on the other side. Both side want to stop it and take the captive for them selves .... The barge has Heavy Laser Canons, Gunner and rebel captive and will shoot at the closest target (empire or rebel). Which ever side can pick up the captive and exit via their starting side gets a 30 point victory bonus.

Objective 2
The Jawas start on the other side of the gaming board, and are scavanging a crash site where they find and astromech that contains just happenes to contain vital information that both sides require. The Sandcrawler is armed with an Ion canon turret not only will it shoot at the closest target but once it get an Ion hit on a ship it will keep folowing that ship in a attempt to shoot it down and scrap it. Who ever can salvage the astromech and exit via their starting side gets a 30 point victory bonus.

Game play should stop after 1.5 hours to count point of eneny killed plus extra mission point

The only concern I have is that you may want to up the points count. It also can be a 2 or a 4 player game. Go from a 3 x 3 to a 6 x 3 mat.

At 100 points on a 3 x 3 dual objectives will make target priorities important and can make for a fun thematic game.

I like this idea for a group game. works for lots of ships/players better than you think.

I've actually seen something similar where the game was centred around an attack on a desert base with all the associated terrain. There were buildings, palm trees, sand dunes, etc. It looked most impressive. It was a little trickier using the templates over 3D terrain and around buildings, but it was more about the scenario than the technical side of the game. Just goes to show, not all X-wing battles need to be in space.

I see a desert and ice world map coming from FFG in the future.

I don't think they could do a ice map without bringing Snowspeeders into the game. But that would be far from a bad thing. :)

hmmmm ice planet ... must find at ats on e-bay

Like in imperial assault = crossover bonus use

See SWXW: Ground Assault for some rules that can help you with your scenario.

thanks for the tip ....
