Encumbrance of Clothing

By RebelDave, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I know the book says Clothing and Armour WORN reduces its Enc by 3.

It doesnt say TO A MINIMUM of 1.

I assume the means things like Heavy Clothing and Padded armour whose Enc is less than 3, would effectively be Enc 0?

Correct. Or technically negligible.

Correct. Or te hic ally negligible.

Does someone need their droids resetting? ;)

(Im assuming thats an atuocorecct fudge?)

Auto impare is probably more accurate term.

That's been my reading of it all along. It would also reduce armored clothing and personal deflector shields to 0.

I thought that was the ruling, I guess if it was meant to reduce to a min of 1, all clothing/armour would have an Enc of 4, or it would specify "to a min of 1"

Either way, half my group are now encumbered regardless,... and two of them dont wear armour!

Backpacks! And the utility belt... :)

Carrying all that loot?

Carrying all that loot?

Actually no..... the 'problem' player (who I had a long talk with last night, and he understands and hopefully, things will improve for everyone going forward), is playing a Drall Technician... between his weapon, toolkit and slicergear, he is at his limit... despite the backpack and utility belt.

HIs comment last night that he would get the Selonian to carry his 'loot', well.... shes over her limit already!

Sounds like he needs a "Pack" Droid to follow him around. Maybe something like a Loader Droid with a Pair of Lockers attached to it's back. While it carries a storage crate.

I pray to the gods he doesn't see that!

Maybe a vaguely humanoid droid with a large set of overstuffed backpacks wearing a helmet and carrying a phosphorous torch. Perhaps name it Nodwick. :P

I feel I should get this reference....

If he does see it. Remember it would not be that cheap to do and would take up a lot of space. Don't forget that it would be one big Target to tell you where the PC's are.

NPC Alpha: "That's those murders who killed our friends"

NPC Beta: "How can you be sure its them?"

NPC Alpha: "That's their Big Droid, now go get the rest of the Guys and the Repeating Blaster Cannons"

Nuts. I misrembered the name and mangled the joke. It should read Nodwick. That's what I get for reading too much Terry Pratchett.

Correction, there is no such thing as reading too much Terry Pratchett.

No, there is no such thing.

And No, I dont get the reference now!

Ok, you are starting to make me feel old. It was a gaming comic about a hireling who was put upon.

That's been my reading of it all along. It would also reduce armored clothing and personal deflector shields to 0.

Armored clothing would get reduced, but not the personal deflector shield — that’s a shield that is carried, as opposed to armor (or clothing) that is worn.

Moreover, isn’t there a “minimum of 1” rule, so that no matter how light the armor or clothing is, it still requires at least one point of Encumbrance to wear?

I’ll have to check my CRB.

There's nothing in the description for the personal deflector shield to indicate that it is carried like a riot shield. I've always imagined it as the shields from Dune...something worn on a harness and activated to offer 360 degree protection. That's just my opinion.

Also, no mention of a minimum ENC value for armor when worn. It says "Armor encumbrance rating only comes into play when a suit or piece of armor is carried instead of worn. When worn, armor's encumbrance rating is reduced by 3 points." I think 0 ENC for worn armor makes sense.

I feel the need to point out some logic in the logistics.

While there are several items that increase your Encumbrance threshold, I would consider that working for stored items only.

IMO, if you're over your base Encumbrance threshold with just your Armor and Weapon(s), you're taking some disads.
