Also, folks... the Preybird is literally a tiny Klingon Bird of Prey. Even the name is just a trullzy joke.
Given recent revelations (Alex interview, other product previews)...wave 7 prediction
I could see giving the Cloakshape an extra mod or two, but a ship needs to be capable of standing on it's own, without upgrades. It just seems like a cheep, 2 attack filler to me, and scum already has two of those, and you generally don't load up a cheep ship with a bunch of upgrades. Maybe if it was a bit tankier than the Zs or Scyk.

It could be something like 2/2/4/1, at a cost of around 15 points for PS1, with an illicit slot and a missile slot. I'd also add a 2-point title ("Aftermarket Conversion Kit"?) that did something like the TIE/x1 title: "If you equip a Modification upgrade, reduce its squad point cost by 4 (to a minimum of 0)." I'd give it a dial that looked a lot like a HWK with a K-turn.
The big problem, I think, is that this still looks a lot like a Scum Headhunter. That suggests that we might not end up getting one.
I keep saying it, and Alex keeps ignoring me: ewok gliders in space!!!

They're waiting for the Ewok / Gungan faction for that. I'm pretty sure well get it long before we see Smugglers & Spies.

I don't think a ship necessarily has to stand entirely on its own, if its designed with modifications and other upgrades in mind from the get-go. Also, given FFGs stated"No card only expansions" policy, sooner or later ships will have to come out that closely mimic the roles of others - there are only so many roles/viable combinations for statlines.
If people are worried it would never see play vs the Z-95, the solution is pretty straightforward IMO - you make the generics a few points more than the Z-95 generics, but you put badass abilities on the unique pilots/give it a powerful unique title. Then you have a reason to play one or two over another ship, but not to flood the board with them.
Well, look at the available Modifications, they basically offer actions or survivability. Now think about the TIE Advanced before the title fix, it had survivability and a decent set of actions but it was almost never used because it didn't really offer anything worth its cost. It didn't have enough going for it as is, and throwing more points in upgrades really wasn't worth it. Obviously giving the Cloakshape 3 attack would solve this, but do you really see it as having that kind of firepower? I don't see it, so if it's a 2 attack ship, no one's going to load it up with hull, shield and stealth. For it to be something other than another 2 attack filler ship it needs something unique, maybe a systems slot, but I don't see anything else cutting it.

And they're not likely to get a systems slot, because that usually represents relatively recent, military-grade hardware. So they're stuck with the illicit and modification slots.
…you could break them away from the Headhunter by dropping them to something like 2/1/4/2. Priced at about 15, with a title that gives them a break on the cost of a modification/illicit slot and maybe a Cloakshape-only modification that helps out their (otherwise HWK-ish) dial, and maybe that's different enough to be published.
Its the Tie Mongo with a Mango and the Banana Bomb
words fail, who's responsible for that...thing.
My God...something more horrid looking than the Star Viper...AND ITS IMPERIAL!!
I need to go cry somewhere...
Why does everyone hate the appearance of the Battle Butterfly? The Battlefly if you will.
The star viper, not this "We need some new ties but already have these models in reserve" monstrosity.
Edited by PewPewPewGet help, dude. The only kind of classic that ship is is the kind you find at the end if a library book sale, because everyone's picked out all the tripe and you get the book SO bad even a library couldn't get people to take it off their shelves for free.Scimitar bomber.. a classic star wars ship..
Nope.. its been around much longer than most ship... it was in the old WEG RPG even... Soooooo guess I dont need help....

Lieutenant Ketch! PS9, after being attacked at range 1, the attacking ship receives one stress token.
We have to be mindful, a lot of this discussion is about ships that the average SW fan won't recognise. FFG has to walk a fine line here. If the game stops looking like the SW that most people know then it loses a major factor that attracts new players.
FFG has to keep X-Wings and Ties at the forefront of the game or simply becomes another tabletop game like the Star Trek or the D&D dragon one.
I would argue that this is one of the reasons why the Raider has kept that distinctive Star Destroyer shape.
I expect more Droid ships sometime in future on the scum and villainy side of things.
Can't wait to use my snowspeeder with tow cable to flick a ship out of the play area!

The game still has lots of X-wings and TIE Fighters; I don't see those going away. If you're actually a Star Wars fan rather than just a person that's familiar with the movies then you'll probably recognize the other stuff (No True Scotsman, I know). So not really seeing the problem, unless the suggestion is that we stop getting new ships to play with (not happening with this component-driven business model) just so that casual fans don't see anything they don't recognize.

I think all star wars fans recognize the ewok glider.

Yeah I could see it getting cheap or double Illicit upgrades making it break out of the Z95/Scyk role.
I still say that Scum could use a 20-ish point 3 attack ship, to fill the X-wing spot, which could be the Dunelizard or Rhihxkyz (or what ever it's called, how about Ksbabcal or Tbifasbasvb, lol just mashing keys).
I think the Cloak Shape fighter is a good choice for a new Scum Ship. I also like how it looks.
The Skipray Blastboat would also be a great addition for the Scum, so they may also have a turret ship.
In reality they could just do the next two waves as Scum only ships and that would be totally fine with me, considering we have had 5.5 waves dedicated to the Imperials and the Rebels. The Scum faction has been really fun to fly in the first few days and it definitely would benefit from additional waves of ships along with a Huge Pirate Ship. Seriously. A friggin Space Pirate Ship in the same vein as the CR-90/Raider that could be totally made up and still look Scummy/Villainy/Piratey and possibly include alternate bases and dials to repurpose the CR-90 for Scum/Imperial use too! There is still so much fun to be had!!!

I too have a soft spot for the Cloakshape and like the idea of it getting a niche in the 15 point range to sit between the Z-95 and Y-wing. Double illicits would be a good way to distinguish it and is thematically appropriate since the thing was known for a roomy, rugged hull that was easily (and usually) customized. A title that reduces the cost of a modification could work. Or something like a generic Virago/Heavy Scyk. Field Modifications (modification): Your upgrade bar gains the [illicit] or [system] upgrade icon. Give the base ship a native Illicit, and you are good to go.
