The basic rule is to encounter cards of the same encounter numbeer in "the order drawn," which works fine if you're drawing two Places at the Ruins. It doesn't work too well if you're visiting the Ruins which already has the Maze and Fountain of Wisdom.
The Digital Edition keeps track of "draw order," so it actually remembers that the Maze was the 63rd card drawn off the deck, and the Fountain of Wisdom was the 82nd, but I don't think humans care to use a pen and paper to keep track of those things.
So my question for you: when you have multiple faceup cards of the same number and the same type (e.g. two Strangers, two Places), in what order do you encounter them?
I've come across two popular house rules:
- Encounter them in the order they entered the space.
- Encounter them in any order you want.
The latter (in any order you want) is my personal preference, just because it's pretty universal to take Objects and Followers in any order. For example, if you are already carrying 4 Objects and you find 4 more on a space along with a Mule, you'd take the Mule first. (The Digital Edition actually is quite strict and forces you to take the Mule based on its draw order, but again I don't think most humans play that way.)
Which way do you like? Do you have any other variants? I like to have a house rule to encounter them in the order you want...
