Whiskey Rebellion Actual Play Feedback Thread

By KevinLoadedDice, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hi everyone,

I saw our podcast was posted in the "Does Anyone Know Any Actual Play Podcasts" thread.

For those of you who didn't check it out: I'm part of a playgroup of an Actual Play podcast of Edge of the Empire called the Whiskey Rebellion.

We're doing our own original campaign in the EU, and have released 7 episodes so far. That means 1) You don't have to worry about "spoilers" and 2) We're not going to leave you hanging, you can invest.

We are not always the best at the rules, and we're still learning the system, but we have a lot of fun and people tell us we're funny. We're also devoted to Star Wars, so there's a real love for the material, even when we get the RPG part wrong.

In any case, since the secret is out about us, I wanted to put up a feedback thread, similar to Tales from the Hydrian Way and get people's reaction and discussion about the latest episode.

I checked for forum rules, and I didn't see any, but if this, in any way, violates forum rules, please feel free to delete.

Otherwise, you can find our podcasts here: http://www.loadeddicenetwork.com/category/podcasts/whiskeyrebellion/

Or, if you want, you can subscribe on iTunes Here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/loaded-dice-network-whiskey/id945818154

Looking forward to everyone's thoughts and feedback!

Nice logo. I'm all caught up on YALP, which means I have room in my listening schedule for another binge listen, looks like you guys have been added to my list.

Enjoying it a lot, thanks for posting,

Please get a better recording equipment or edit the sound, it sounds like good queilty session, but sadly hard to listen.

Maybe ask advice of the OneShot podcast, they have great recording (no offence)...

I appreciate the feedback. Thank you for listening.

We actually have improved our equipment significantly (but, we're still working through our back sessions).

Since recording we've upgraded to a really great OmniDirectional Microphone (Blue Yeti) that we put in the middle of the table. Unfortunately, we're still releasing sessions recorded with our old setup, as we work through our episode backlog but improved quality is on the way!

In an ideal world, we would mic everyone individually, but we don't have the resources to do that today.

Additionally, the early episodes were hand edited to level out the various voices, some of which were barely audible on the track. It sounds terrible. We've started using levelator on all of our later episodes which does a much better job (along with the hand editing) at arriving at a more smooth audio tone, even with the poor recording equipment.

With that being said, we welcome all advice on improving, content and or presentation. So keep it coming and once again, thanks.

From what episode?

Episode 6, I believe.

Up to episode 5 now. I am really enjoying this. It sounds like just a bunch of friends getting together and playing games and goofing off. In another words, it sounds real. Though Gretchen could stand to speak up some. Being a Beer Knurd, it's amusing to me to hear what everyone is drinking. I am frowning at the guy drinking a Bud Light.

Here is episode 10. Obviously, we've still yet to get initiative right, but the combat is fun and inventive and not just "I shoot at the badguy" although there's plenty of that as well. At least, we hope that's the case, but as always, love your thoughts.

Episode 10, Despair on Despayre: http://www.loadeddicenetwork.com/podcasts/whiskey-rebellion-ep10-despair-on-despayre/

Episode 11 has Been Released. This may be our funniest episode yet. Hopefully the sound quality is getting better. We're about to take our next "big leap" in sound quality in an episode or 2.

The last few episodes have been really amusing. The GM's portrayal of Maurice had me rolling over with laughter. I never would have thought to model an NPC after Matthew Mcconaughey. I love how short and digestible the episodes are, every other podcast in my feed are at an hour+. This one is also very tightly edited. Kudos.

Check it out, we released another episode, and this time we have a new party member, balancing us out a little bit in terms of guys and gals. The jokes and fur keep flying, as Cal Maverick keeps trying to fly straight, as always comments are welcome! Thanks so much Kaosoe for the feedback so far. Everyone in the play group appreciates it and we're glad it's making you happy!

Here's the latest Whiskey Rebellion. Thanks to those who have commented, liked, etc. Feel free to spread the word. Sound quality has definitely improved, as has our understanding of the rules. This is the finale of one adventure, but we've got plenty more Edge of the Empire goodness already recorded and in the editing process.
