Zombie Apocalypse Scenario Card (with custom monster tokens)

First draft of my first attempt at a scenario card. There are several monster tokens that go with the card:

Any comments, suggestions or brutal public humiliation (er, perhaps not so much of the latter) are welcome. It may well be the difficulty is low, this is solely down to the fact that my poor playing strategies usually end in several investigators mingled together in a smeared steaming mess on the floor. I will of course put up the eon files when I am happy with a final version (on an un-related side note, I am planning a re-vamped version of Haunted House soon, just a few minor changes to up the ante).

There was another rule I was going to put on the scenario card regarding Glaaki being the AO which was along the lines that anyone reduced to 0 Stamina by any undead would be devoured and replaced by a monster of the type that killed them. Also all undead would be consider as Spawn monsters. In addition, if you have the Dracula AO (sorry I forget who made that one at the mo, but it's in the custom AO thread) he follows the same listed rule changes that apply to Glaaki.

get rid of the mob rule thing, clunky. and give the zombies a brood token instead, when a investigator fails a combat check they get a token and lose 1 stamina every upkeep. that will reduce a ton of rules on your card.

also just have a zombie cup and get rid of the random zombie placement. hey i am from pittsburgh i know a thing or two about zombies!

Do you mean the Contagious rule? That's the one the one that causes gradual stamina loss. Most of the space for that rule is taken up by the description of how to stop the infection. But yeah it would perhaps work better with somekind of token as a reminder to reduce stamina. I'm hoping to make all the text on the card more concise, partly because there was another rule I wanted to add but ran out of space. The rule for the Mob-Rules rule is a little unwieldy. I wanted to change the Toughness icon and the Combat damage modifier both to an X but wasn't sure how to do it in SE; that should have made it shorter and easier to understand.

Not quite sure what you mean here. My original plan was to have zombies drawn from the cup whenever a monster is drawn from the main monster cup during the Mythos phase; in the end I went for the 50% chance of a zombie appearing every Mythos phase. To be honest I wasn't sure which was the better idea to make sure there is a constant zombie presence on the board. The 'zombie spawning' locations are there to make sure they are spread across the city, that and they seemed the best thematic places. The zombies are not tied to the gates in any way either which is another reason for the distinction, although that maybe needs clarifying.

Thanks for the input Pitt.

Great idea, I will be playing with this soon. I made up a bunch of zombie monsters over in the monster thread that would go great with this.

i would play a game with just zombies, it is thematic.

I originally considered creating a zombie only variant for AH, but then I thought I would just be recreating something like Last Night on Earth except on the AH board. So, in the end I went for this idea instead to add more of a 'end of the world' feel since the residents of Arkham seem a little blaise about monsters and such wandering the streets (I still need to squeeze in that other rule to better simulate the town getting overrun). Anyway, so it would be quite easy to adapt the scenario to a complete game change, just add a few extra rules (spawning pits instead of gates, that need destroying), an adaption of the Terrror or Doom track to give a timelimit and loooooooads more zombies!!!!! gui%C3%B1o.gif

There is an error on the Zombie Horde token, it currently has +X on Awareness and Combat modifiers. This should of course be -X. D'oh, can't believe I missed that. There are also a couple of minor changes I've made to the scenario card:

Zombies are not affected by The Cross.

When entering an Arkham location (ie. not an Other World location) pass a Luck(+5-Terror Level) or be Surprised by a zombie.

Downloaded it, look forward to playing it!

I really like your Zombie Apocalypse scenario and it has inspired me to create my own. I hope you don't mind that I used some of your abilities and also added some of my own with influences from the last night on earth. I have a set of my own zombies as well.

If anyone is interested, I can post the .eon files here.

Nicely. No worries about using stuff from my effort.

Love the artwork of the scenario card. Do you have a link to source?

I lost the link to that pic but I uploaded it to my site if you want a copy of it. Here you go
