Sorry if this has been asked before. My son and i have just got three new ships, and all three of them have the ability to fire 360. When attacking with your primary weapons turrets, does your enemy have to be within range of 1 to fire outside of your arc? And do you have to place the token next to the ship while doing so?
360 firing range
All ships with primary weapons that can fire 360 can do so at all ranges (1-3) and do not need any kind of special action or token to do so.
Note that the FIRING ARC (for determining things like "Backstabber's" ability) is still only the wedge-shape at the front.
Can you tell me where it says this in the rules? I'm sure my son will not be convinced until he see it with his own eyes. Thanks
Also explain to me what the difference is between first and secondary weapons? Seems confusing to me. Thanks and sorry for all the questions.
This should be explained on the rules sheets that came with your large, turreted ships.
A secondary weapon is any upgrade card that has an "Attack:" header. This includes Torpedoes, Missiles, Cannons, Turret upgrades, and soon the Illicit upgrade "Hot Shot Blaster".
Just curious - what led to the belief that turrets could only attack out of arc at range 1?
Mostly confusion between me and my teen that knows everything. LOL
The only range limits on turret weapons are on the secondary weapon-turret upgrades, which are found on the Y-wing and HWK-290. The current upgrade options, "Ion Cannon Turret" and "Blaster turret" can only fire at ranges 1-2, and a new one soon to be released, "Autoblaster Turret," works only at range 1. This is indicated by the white number next to the red number on the upgrade cards.
As for the ships with primary turret weapons, including the YT-1300, YT-2400, and VT-49 Decimator, there are no requirements for using their turret weapon. They need no special tokens, and can attack from range 1-3.
The YT-2400 can be confusing. If it has the "Outrider" title equipped, it can use a cannon upgrade as a turret weapon. It can then no longer use it's primary weapon turret. The cannon upgrade still has it's range restriction, so if a YT-2400 has "Outrider" and a "Heavy Laser Cannon" equipped as its cannon-upgrade, then it can now only fire in ranges 2 and 3, as indicated on the Heavy Laser Cannon card.
I hope this helps more than it confuses.
