Yeah, I saw that story. Really pretty pointless, all that really means is "we can use the name 'Catan', since the actual game has no story or characters.

This could have been a sneaky plot to aquire the star trek licence.

"hmm let's get the Catan licence, then we can make movies based on all versions of Catan, including the star trek one, so we can make new Star trek movies without paying directly for the licence! I'm a genius! Somebody get me JJ Abrams!"
* And yes, the resources are diferent in this one. Quite possible to avoid players constantly going "Captain Kirk has wood."
One of the new resources is oxygen so now players can go "*gasp!* I n-need o- o- Oxygen!"
