Gencon Roll Call

~But I certainly remember how ktom is if you are late... :)

~ Yeah, because when one person calls a friend in the card hall 5 minutes before an event is supposed to start to say that he'll 15 minutes late and could the beginning of a Melee event be held to accommodate him is so reasonable and something that the other 30-odd people who were on time should be asked to put up with.

Seriously, though, we can put it off until noon. I can multitask with registration for the Legacy Joust at 3pm. 11am was a more comfortable time frame, but we can still do it. Done right, it should be most of the same people anyway. We could do it the other way, too. Start it at 8-9pm after Legacy Joust is over....

Ohhh! 8 or 9pm wld be awesome! but that's just me!

The new FAQ answers the burning questions about card sleeves and using CCG era cards that have been reprinted.

Just to confirm (since I am the worst rules guy in the world), the new GJ Kings/Queens are changes to the existing ones (5KE) or new versions?

I.e. I don't have broken Myrcella anymore in Standard... or do I? :)

Well, considering that pretty much the only thing the same between the Kings/Queens from the GJ Expansion and the 5KE Kings/Queens is the art, it is safe to say they are completely different cards. You cannot use the 5KE ones in LCG-only formats.

If you are asking if the KotS versions pre-empt and completely replace the 5KE versions in Standard, I'd say no. I mean, the 5KE version of Robb Stark doesn't make the ITE version illegal, right? New versions of uniques have never made old versions illegal in other formats. Continue to play the "broken" 5KE Myrcella in Standard or Legacy all you want.

I would prefer having an 8/9:00 start time for the Standard as well, mainly because Thursday is a good day to hit the vendor hall. Especially since Friday and Saturday will be so busy with The Only Game that Matters. :)

agreed, the later time for standard works for me too

Well, it looks like our hotel is finally booked, and it is confirmed that we will have 6 players coming from our area. Less than a week away!

I also built my Legacy deck on Tzumainn's site last night...and I'm actually jazzed up for it! Now if only I can track down the three Legacy cards that I need that seemed to have escaped my collection.

+1 more from our neck of the woods.

6 now? Who else is coming?

Since I may not have time to send the well-wishes next week, I hope you all have a wonderful time at that most awesome of parties. Hopefully when I stop living la vida loca, I'll return. Good luck and godspeed, y'all.

Okay. I'll put this in the organized play board, too, but it looks like the consensus is:

AGoT "Informal" Standard Joust Tournament (you can call yourself the World Champ if you really want)

Time: Thursday, August 13. 8pm (essentially right after the AGoT Legacy Championship)

Place: Gencon Card Hall (or wherever FFG has their Gencon LCG events; we're squatting)

Format: "Old Style" Joust Standard: Legal sets are Iron Throne Edition (including the ITE Legacy Pack and any promo card with the ITE set symbol), House of Thorns, House of Talons, Five Kings Edition, 6x Chapter Packs of the Clash of Kings cycle, 6x Chapter Packs of the Time of Ravens cycle, first 3x Chapter Packs of the Kings Landing cycle, the AGoT LCG Core Set and the AGoT LCG Kings of the Sea expansion. The card Jaqen H'gar (F43 from the Sacred Bonds Chapter Pack) is banned in this event. All other FFG Joust event rules stand.

Pairings and Prizes: Depending on number of participants, 3-4 rounds of Swiss. If there are more than 16 participants, we can cut to "top 4" single elimination. Prize support for 1-4 place. (Anyone interested in donating additional prize support or offering "bounties" is welcome to do so.)

Questions: contact ktom

Looks great Ktom, hope I can make it to play... esp. with this old janky deck I adapted from something I haven't really played much in the last 12 months.

I think the ITE Block promos are as follows: P14 Take the White to P28 The Eyrie, and are listed on TzuMainn's site under both ITE, 5KE and Clash of Arms promotion. There is no P27.

Good luck to you all!!!

I'll be out of town on vacation, but look forward to reading how things went when I get back.

Hopefully, I'll see you all next year.

Good luck everyone, and a shout out to the DC meta crew!

Am I the only one waiting with bated breath on results from GC?

~ Geez. I hope so.

Seriously, considering that the first event doesn't even start for an hour and a half, you've got a bit of a wait ahead of you.

Double post...sorry.

My birds tell me that Finite won the draft and (I think) the legacy tourney too. For the latter he played a Lanni deck, which I think ran the VE Knight's Agenda, but I'm not sure about that. I'll let him write out a longer tourney report when he can, as he didn't share a ton of details. (He said old Joffrey and ITE promo Ilyn were the MVPs though.)

I'm not sure how many played in each, but I guess he played Rings, who also played a Lanni deck with a different agenda, in the final (I think, though again, I'm unclear on the details.). I hope that helps....

Finite did win the Legacy (with a Lannister deck LUke lent him). There were 12 people playing.

Any word on who was at the final table at the Melee and who won the Melee?

There were 19 participants. The TO played the 4th slot at the 5th table (badly, to tell the truth) to avoid the "table of 3" annoyances.

Final Melee table was:

Kennon, Longclaw, Finitesquarewell and Kevin McClure (I think the board name is Nivek).

Longclaw won, Nivek was second, Kennon and Finite tied for "third." It was pretty grueling as far as Melee games go with no resets for a long, long time, so the table was pretty full. I'm sure the pictures will surface.

I heard the final was a 2-3 hour game, but I'm not 100% sure about that (and the account could have been an exaggeration). It sounds like none of the final players ran Valar in their plotdeck and Core Set Arya was keeping renown off everything. Apparently several players ran Milk of the Poppy but none came up. (Again, this is a second-hand account, so I could be getting a few details wrong.)

Facebook posts indicate Dobbler is Joust champ!

Congrats, Dobbler!
