First game, REALLY fun and learned a lot

By Forensicus, in Star Wars: Armada

How does the Evade token re-roll interact with Accuracy results assigned to another defense token? If the attacker uses an Accuracy against a brace token, can you use the Evade re-roll to potentially change the Accuracy result and free the Brace token? If you re-roll dice due to the Evade token and the result is an Accuracy, can you now retroactively spend that Accuracy to cancel a defense token?

Can you use multiples of the same tokens against the same attack (ie. a CR-90 using both Evade tokens to cancel 2 dice, or a VSD using both Redirect tokens to shunt damage to both sides?

Does everything start at speed 2 or is there a choice?

If Concentrate Fire command adds another dice to every anti-squadron shot, does the token allow re-rolls against each squadron? Would something like the VSDs "Warlord" title also work vs each squadron? ( https://images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/star-wars-armada/news/wave1/warlord.png )

What do the crew upgrades do???

With more practice, how fast do you think 6 turns will pass?

How often did you fire from each of the VSDs facings and what is the balance between them over the course of the game?

In practice, just how big is the range difference between black and blue dice?

How "tough" is the Neb-B with the 3front/1side shields and the pair of Brace tokens compared to the CR-90?

What commands have you been using most?

That's a lot of questions, don't hassle the guy too much, he has already provided lots of info to the community, for which we are all thankful for I'm sure (I know I am) ;)

As I recall from one of the articles, you can only use one defense token per attack.

Re: Concentrate Fire, I think the general consensus is that it only works on one attack, anti-squad works against multiple targets but they are each separate attacks, so the command will only apply to one of those attacks.

I too would like to know the starting speed. I started a thread about it a while back but don't think there was a confirmed answer (although some suggested you pick the starting speed of all your ships).

One token of each type. For example Nebulon B can't use both halve damage tokens against the same atack

Q&A later tonight:

Wow! Will it be on a chat or video feed? Will there be an English translator? Will there be cookies?

Hotdiggity!!

Time to brush up on my high school danish! :D

Maybe a livestream if anyone would possibly be interested? Naahh, you guys wouldn't be interested, would you?

If someone would say something in English, hold up a few models for a good camera view, oooh fighters! I want a closer look at the fighters. (Even though they are not painted.)

Yeah. As far as I remember the event will be available for 1 month. Most likely I'll also download it and upload it to my YouTube account.

I am excited to do it, but do bear with me: I do not own pro equipment for broadcasting so there might be som sound issues and technical challenges ;-)

lol, perfect timing, just as I woke up downunder :D

Is it working? To me it just says "Event started"

I'm on Livestream right now (for the very first time, so I don't know what I'm doing), but while I am 'following' you, and it says your event has, it's not doing anything more than that or responding to my clicks. :(

Ditto

hahaha, either we are both equally useless or its not actually started yet? :P

Hm, I did notice something I needed to click on to continue, but ...

...Ah!

Working now :)

Update us folks that cant join, pretty please :)

Just been going over the box and the ships and ruler, will bullet point stuff that isnt common knowledge:

- The box is the same box/size as Imperial Assault, so is pretty huge

- The carboard ship bases like X-Wing have the other model on the reverse side.

- Ship bases use a sliding clip to hold them in place on the base

- Firing from capital ships is measured from the yellow pips on the bases (not like X-Wing where its from the base)

- Fighters, its the cardboard damage dial that rotates, and it has generic on one side and hero on the other

- The range ruler, medium range is significantly shorter than long or short range.

Edited by MaverickNZ

Also:

- Precise placing is not as critical in Armada as in X-Wing.

- The characters have their faces and abilities on the base plates.

- 52 damage cards

Edited by Mikael Hasselstein

Damage cards include:

damaged munitions - when attacking a ship, before you roll your attack pool, remove one die of your choice.

Com noise

Point defense failure

depowered armaments - you cannot attack at long range

injured crew - choose and discard one of your defense tokens, then flip this card facedown

life support faulure

coolant discharge

structural damage - deal a facedown damage card to your ship and then flip face down (like direct hit)

shield failure - ship: your opponent may choose upto two of your hull zones, each chosen hull zone loses one shield then flip this card face down

Compartment fire - you cannot ready your defense tokens

estimated two of each type, so 26 critical effects?

Edited by MaverickNZ

In learn to play at least, all ships start with speed 2

- Fighters can deploy anywhere within the deployment zone

Event ended - auto timer I think :/

edit: looks like its coming back up

Maybe. 32.30 doesn't seem like a timer, though.

maybe he lost internet connection?

It's up again.
