Should take a picture with an xwing or falcon next to the ships... just to give us unimaginative folks an idea of scale (I've already read about the physical measurements, I'd just be interested to see the models side by side).
First game, REALLY fun and learned a lot
I'm surprised he didn't have to sign a non-disclosure agreement with FFG to be able to play test the game before everyone else. I hope you guys don't get into any trouble for this, I remember back in 2011 a magazine writer and his roommate got into big trouble by leaking an MTG set to the public early that they were given ahead of time to play test.

First of all I think more highly of the sense and sensibility of FFG staff and politics than Wizards of the Coast.
Secondly we were not play testing, but simply doing a review and as also mentioned I will be giving open/public demos of the game mid March and we will be doing it again at a large Star Wars Demo day (with the other FFG SW ganes) and are in close talks with the distributor about prize support for the event. So I/we feel on safe/solid ground.
But thx for the concern

From what Forensicus has written, this wasn't a playtest, but a review. The whole point of it would be to publicize the game.
Edit: ninja'd!
Yes I figured as much... though I am not versed in the Danish language It would be a joy to see the review nonetheless.

That's what Google Translator is for.
And just imagine what it'll be like after HNN has the article go through a cheap protocol droid and only then submitted to COMPNOR's Committee for Progress "reviewers". With any luck, Forensicus and his friend may not even be sent to Kessel for re-education.
Edited by Mikael HasselsteinHi Guys - I'm the mate. I just wanted to come out of hiding after my trusty X-Wing friend here told me about you guys being all happy to see material from the core game. The copy I have with me is about to go through all the scandinavian countries for store demos. But since we're doing this grand Star Wars themed board game day we were allowed to have the core box for a week or so – with the intention to write about it and fire up the hype for the event. The event is in a month - so our hype has begun on local facebook pages and digital media here.
It's simply about drawing people in and engage them with a few goodies on what to expect. Turning up at the event will even get you a 15% discount on the core set on some local stores we've had the pleasure to get on the team.
So I've been asked to behave and act professional, but no NDA's or date constraints.
I wasn't planning on writing anything about it in english, but let's see if someone can help me. But as I said initially, it's more about getting good pictures and the general vipe out, prior to the event. In Denmark the Store Demos start next week (I belive) so at that point all bits in the learn-to-play scenario will be pretty public. Offcourse the game isn't in stock before mid-march (lates date i've heard).
Hope this clarifies a thing or two :-)
I leave you with just one of the pictures I did this weekend.
You may start landing your likes ! ;-)
Kind regards

I was wondering something none rules related. Just how big are these models? They look extrmely detailed, well painted and all, but how big are they? The VSD is the biggest in the core isnt it? Just how long does it measure out to?
I ask because I know in my area we are not going to stick to 300 pts. The size of the models may dictate the size of our games if the table gets too crowded.
Thanks!
The minis are very beautiful and more detailed than the X-Wing minis I've seen (Starter box + Kessel Run).
Yes the Star Destroyer is the largest model and measures about 13cm in length.
The paint-job is fantastic on the large ships. The small details makes them seem larger obviously. But the squadrons are un-painted. Ties in dark grey and x-wings in tanned white plastic.
Edited by BlasterBoI don't know how big the ships are, but here is a video demo of them being used so you can get an idea of the scale:

...I go away for not even a day and this is what I come back to???
Yah! That's it!!! Now THIS is what we're talkin' bout!
Ohh man...thank you BlasterBro and Forensicus for taking the time out to share these juicy tidbits with us!
Lol.. you know as soon as I saw this post I thought 'Europe has done it again!, Broken the release date.' .
I was glad to read that was not the case. THankyou to both of you for the lovely pictures and explanation of some terms. (Mainly for the pictures though!
)
Now I fully expect Canada to break the date. One of those online shops so they can go 'oops, our bad. We thought it was X day. It wont happen again until the next wave release'.
No idea what it is, but i can tell you what it'll get used for: Marking base locations when you have to move them out of the way of the manoeuvring tool. useful!

Beat me too it, that was exactly what I was thinking.
That was my thought too. If that is indeed what it is, that's a very thoughtful thing for FFG to include.

I can understand the confusion and it was a good but incorrect guess: those are quite simply the stack of 4 markers to mark off the corners of the play area if yo do not have a map or a table in the correct size

Oh... Well I'll be using it for marking ships anyway then
Nice of FFG to include something like that though. Ha ha! Extra bonus for ordering two cores, I can use them for both
Don't worry, it's only a rusty old Victory Star Destroyer, not an Imperial
Im so Jonesing for an Imperial!
or even a SSD
Which website will your friend post the review at? And do you know when he will upload it?

He will most likely link to it himself. Also the link to his website is on the ships picture (wee.papskubber.dk)
Thanks again guys for posting this. Will you be filming the demo games? I hope you can, would be great to see the game in action beyond the gencon demo from last year.

Edit: www, not "wee"
I managed to document how ISS Enterprise bolted away from the battle:

Yeah, I meant play test in the more literal sense that we gamers use, as in you are playing the game to test it out so that you can review it, not to give feedback to change the game.
But I'm glad FFG is letting you tease us with these pics, it's very tantalizing. You did a good job of showing just enough to get people excited without giving it all away.
There is a legitimate reason to keep some things secret before the release date even after the game is finished being developed, it creates more excitement and an experience of discovery when you first play the game. It's arguably less fun to know exactly how a game is going to play out before even getting to open the box. This is why I've been critical of FFG's policy of spoiling things many many months before the release, it causes people to lose excitement by the time the thing is actually available for purchase. I'll bet you Wave 6 would have sold much more if so many people hadn't already gotten it out of their system by playing it for months on Vassal and with proxies. I'm hearing a lot of people saying their ordering less wave 6 then they originally thought they would because it's become a known quantity and there are more exciting things on the horizon now (like Armada).
My mate thinks he will have the review (AND photos up before the weekend if all goes well. Stay tuned
What are all those tokens with the Rebel/Imperial symbols, or the green target symbol? Basically the tokens right above the Victory and the tokens to the left of the upgrade cards?
Also, how come the fighter movement ruler isn't evenly distributed? First increment too long, second too short!
