Title says it all, have you proxied it, or tested it on vassal? If so what was your impression?
Edited by Ayleronhas anyone actually tested the yt-2400 with mangler cannon yet?
Does it count if I watched it tested? It performed about as expected. It takes away the hole on Dash, and makes him have to think less about where he's going against PS8+ things. Still not sure if it is actually better than the HLC though, more testing needed.
I've fought against it with a triple autoceptor list and won losing fel not to the outrider but to hobbies stressing him, then I faced it with rexler and a miniswarm and again won comfortably losing two ties.
It removes the doughnut hole but it's just a three attack gun at the end of the day.
Basically, if you've flown a Falcon then you know how Mangler Cannon + Outrider feels.
But of course the outrider May not stick around as long as the falcon, I can understand not wanting the dead zone but really with barrel roll and an EU that's not that big an issue.
You want a three attack turret take the falcon, HLC carrying is what the outrider is meant for and frankly with AT days away now you need to throw as many attacks as possible at autoceptors.
Vorpal has it. It's a less tanky, slightly more mobile Falcon. The bonus crit more or less offsets the 4th die at range 1, and built in barrel is sweet. Dash with PTL and Engine Upgrade has unparalleled mobility, and without the donut, he is a lot less vulnerable to high PS. Unlike Han, he needs a strong running mate, but at ~55 pts, you can afford just a hair more... like 2 B-Wings or 3 Prototypes.
It's stronger against TIE swarms and against PS8+ ships than HLC, but weaker against small generic rebel ships like B-Wings and A-Wings. The lower damage cap is compensated by the greater number of attacks gained by losing the donut hole.
It doesn't play exactly like a Falcon in that it's not a range 1 brawler like the Falcon and it can't sponge damage like the Falcon can (although you could probably build it that way with Recon Specialist and Lone Wolf) so you need to utilize it's mobility properly at stay at range 3 when you can't arc-dodge (which is when the Mangler Cannon shines over the HLC, arc-dodging usually involves overshooting your enemy's arc and being in range 1).
The real difference between the Mangler and the HLC is in the support ships. Suddenly having access to 2 B-Wings or 3 A-Wings is a really nice change from being stuck relying on a single elite support ship like Corran or Jan. I'm sure there's other options that are possible with 45 points that were not with 42.
I'm not too worried about mangler dash over running the meta. It's what, 9 points, for one extra evade dice (with crit).
And it's secondary so it doesn't get an extra dice at range 1.
The Mangler changes everything for the Outrider. You don't HAVE to take Dash anymore and PTL isn't a requirement. It opens up points for your escort ships as well.
That mobility tho... Dash with PTL and Engine is the most mobile ship in the game except for maybe Daredevil Tycho or Daredevil Vader. And Mangler Cannon actually allows him to use that mobility so much better.

If every shot you take is range 2. The Mangler loses 1 die at range 1 to a 1300, but denies a green die to defenders at range 3.
It will honestly matter more on the number of Autothrusters running around wether the Mangler Cannon will be better then HLC. A 3 dice attack will have a very difficult time landing meaningful hits on turteled up Interceptors. Sontir Fel will be the most popular Interceptor to be running around once the scum are here. He poses an interesting problem for the TY-2400. You take Mangler and it will struggle to get hits in or you take the HLC and Sontir has a better then normal shot at exposing the no shot hole.
At least the hits the Mangler does get will be crits though. It will be important to use Dash's support ships to block and trap Soontir so Dash can catch him action less and in arc.
I don't get it. If you take HLC dash you'd better be taking something that can protect his gaping donut hole. If you take mangler or standard dash, your escort options open up depending on what you are trying to accomplish with the list. If I ever take a HLC dash, I'm bringing someone along that will punish anything that tries to get into range one of him. It's as simple as that.

also if a falcon could barrel-roll (or have any innate movement action) and come with a generic that didn't suck all the balls in the X-wing world
Throw int agent on an outrider space fringer and get ready for glorious shenanigans that a falcon would never pull off ![]()
