All-in on a tactic. Does this work for you?

By DraconPyrothayan, in X-Wing

Playing Team Epic tomorrow, and each team has 3 players, and 200 points each.

I'm playing the good guys.

One of my Allies is planning on flying Kagi, Oicuun, Brath, and some upgrades.

The other has had radio silence thus far.

I've decided that, since we're allowed to proxy upgrade cards, that I wanted to go whole-hog on a card that is absolutely devastating in a target-rich environment: Ruthlessness.

To that end:

5x Black Squadron Pilot + Ruthlessness

{17 Each}

Howlrunner

{18}

2x Saber Squadron Pilots + Ruthlessness

{24 Each}

Kath Scarlett + Ysanne Isard + Push the Limit + Engine Upgrades

{49}

200 points total.

I intend to focus-fire like a madman.

I'm avoiding PTL, as I know that one of my opponents enjoys a Stressport, but still want to try out the Ysanne + PTL + Engine = Boost at the start of combat shenanigans :)

I approve of this tactic and expect a full battle report that details how you blew up a falcon with out ever shooting at it.

lol

Ruthless is great but have you considered giving one of BSP DtF and putting HU on Howl, granted you'll need to borrow a pt from a teammate but it makes her much tougher to kill.

I forsee a lot of friendly fire happening.

Sounds like fun to me!

I will definitely do this.

At the very least, it will screw with their formation-senses enough that I might be able to make them run over their own ships with their Epic of choice.... :lol:

I'm actually okay with her being vulnerable. There are a few "weak points" that I can see, so I can go ahead and start planning around it.

If the enemy is playing a Stress Control like last time, Kath is gonna be the one in trouble. If not, she gets to evade + boost at the start of combat during the end-game.

If the enemy is playing Assault Z-95s, my swarm itself is the target. If they aren't, they will treat Howlrunner like Biggs, and get eaten by the objectively more threatening Blacks.

If the enemy is playing Turret Defense, then my Interceptors are the weak point. However, if they're playing the Stressboat, these will fare far better than their PTL equivalents.

If they're playing the Pic and Gorc builds that are popular in the metagame at the moment, we're going to see some melted E-Wings.

I forsee a lot of friendly fire happening.

I do as well.

However, if it does, that means that I've either completely shattered their formation (Good joerb, me!), or have melted their ships unexpectedly swiftly (Huzzah! The fun has been doubled!)

Fascinating... I believe that this will be an interesting tale to eventually tell your "Academy Pilots". :)

I like the description of Han and Corran as Pic and Gorc - that makes me happy :D

Also works for Whisper and Chiraneau

I think this sounds awesome! With the Huge ships, Ruthlessness almost turns the whole thing into a giant seismic charge that can activate multiple times in a round! Your opponent (and you) would do well to keep out of range 1 of the CR-90 and/or GR-75.

Wait, wasn't Gorc the big one? Also, I always end up saying something like "You're an angry jedi, aren't you?" when Luke or Coran shoot, and no one ever gets it....

Wait, wasn't Gorc the big one?

You'll notice that I got them right way round for the Empire version :)

I just won a new copy of it through a Humble Bundle Raffle, and am enjoying the nostalgia greatly. However, this is the comparison I've used for this form of the two-ship meta this whole time ;-)

Ahhhh that reference is fantastic.

Gorc is the giant one with the freaking 8ft long lightsaber that dies in 2 seconds and Pic is the lil' terror that turns invisible and constantly jumps. The one I would always shoot to death with that splash damage rifle.

Falcons are more like Jerec though, since really they just sit wherever, not paying all that much attention, and then you die.

See, with Jerec, whenever he would try to run back up that tower I would wedge myself in there and prevent him from going anywhere and proceed to kill him. At least, that's how I did it the first time.

...And my car breaks down, so I don't have a ride to the game tonight.

Poop.

...None of y'all would happen to be in the Western North Carolina area, would you?

No but I am about to reach 1000 posts, so I've got that goin' for me.
