I just thought that there aren't any Space Exploration Adventure games in the vain of Freelancer and other Space exploration PC games. The game should be like an adventure game where you have different types of ships instead of the Dwarves, Elves and the like, you buy upgrades for your ship instead of leveling your characters etc. Any thoughts on this?

My friend found a copy of the Twilight Imperium RPG (I think it was a d20 game but I now do not remember) a year or so ago, but we never got to try it. Nevertheless, it seemed like a cool theme to me at the time, different from Star Wars-type scifi settings since the races have been isolated for hundreds of years, and the capital is a nuclear wasteland. It seems to me the politics could get a lot more interesting if they didn't just boil down to "JEDI GOOD! SITH BAD!" Each race (with the possible exception of the L1Z1X) thinks of themselves as the "good guys."
EDIT: I remember now! It wasn't d20, it was d10-based, because that's what the board game uses! I thought that was pretty funny at the time.
Yeah it came out in '99 right before D20 really hit the scene I think.

We are currently running an RPG loosely based off of this over on ti3wiki.org. Check it out if you are interested. The name is Privateers RPG. There is also a second RPG running that does not use a specific rule set (Downfall RPG). We ended up modifying a lot of the rules from the RPG provided for a better gaming experience. The guy to talk to about it would be Mike_Evans, the one running it.
