Rexler Jonus Group LLC - Your imperial used car solution.

By nigeltastic, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Sometimes I run out of clever names so I merged the three names of the pilots and it sounds like a used car company to me.

The list is pretty simple:

Rexler Brath - 37

  • Heavy Laser Cannon - 7 (44)
  • Predator - 3 (47)

Captan Jonus - 22 (69)

  • Wingman - 2 (71)

Omnicron Group Pilot - 21 (92)

  • Heavy Laser Cannon - 7 (99)

The goal is to go slow and allow Captain Jonus and Wingman make up for random stress from Rebel Captive or from the dials of the other two (mostly the defender's inability to easily shed stress). Jonus gives them both a huge amount of rerolls, and if Rexler Brath has to break off he has predator as backup.

I'm absolutely looking for any sort of suggestions or help anyone has on how to improve the list or what you think the weaknesses will be.

If you'd drop the HLC from the OGP (yeah, you know me) then you could add a Fleet Officer to really help Brath along.

Wait a bit and give him a Mangler or an Ion for the time being.

You could then even Yorr it up, allowing Jonus to stick close to Yorr with Rexler running around on a longer leash. And still room left over for a Flechette Cannon.

Predator and Jonus are a bit the same, if you'd drop Predator for Lone Wolf you free up another point allowing you an Ion.

Rexler Brath (37)
Lone Wolf (2)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Captain Jonus (22)
Wingman (2)
Captain Yorr (24)
Fleet Officer (3)
Total: 97
Now they're a bunch of shady lawyers
Yorr, Jonus and Brath
We break any case.

.. i do not like these builds. seem very clumsy.

They are clunky, you really wouldn't want to keep the Defender on a short leash and the wingmen aren't fully able to keep up.

You know what, calculation on rexler would actually be pretty darn good. It let's him have a mini focus while trying to preserve his focus.

After the first encounter though, I'm not sure what you'd do with the squad.

It's clunky, but the goal is to sit back and throw large numbers of well modified dice at the opponent from range, avoiding the bad turning dial of the shuttle by just moving slowly and rotating. Lambdas fly very clunky regardless, and a stressed defender becomes incredibly sad, while with hlc and jonus rerolls they can sit back and dump 4 dice into people from range 3 with minimal risk of being forced into terrible maneuvers.

Overall I'm a huge fan of the defender and I think it's a workhorse capable of doing great things with a cannon, but how much it struggles to destress is concerning.

That is not how calculation works. You still have to spend a focus to turn 1 eyeball into a crit. Otherwise Calculation would be just like Chirineaus ability for everyone.

Correct. I mis-read
