If Xizor defends, IG-88A absorbs a damage, which will regen.

Is there a way to make Xizor the best target, allowing the combo to work as well as possible?

Just pair him with some Binayre Pirates equipped with a Dead Man's Switch. You presume to attack me? Boom yourself!

Rather than throwing all of those upgrades on, though, I think I'd also play Iggy-D, and play around with the remaining 11 points.
Getting IG-88 to kill a ship per round can also be problematic.
It gets easier the more of them you are fielding. Remember, you can have them attack in the order you wish, so you can always have the wounded one wait 'til it just needs a cherry-tap.
Now, eating an ice-planet, on the other hand...
150 matches are fantastic. There's SO much more room for upgrades you wouldn't normally bring.
Now that I think about it...you could field all 4 IG-88s in a 150 point game...

B's ability wouldn't come into play: you'd only be able to afford at most 3 cannons.
Still, even a Powerless IG-88 would be good with the others still alive.
